Unruly Studio

Another thoroughly satisfied customer. I am another curly-headed friend and have always struggled to find someone who knows what to do with thick 'unruly' hair. I normally leave a salon in a rage of anger or tears; with Micheal it was a thankyou hug and a massive smile! My hair has never looked so good. In other salons I always ask for them to re-wash my hair after cutting to rejuvenate the curl (and felt demanding for it); at Unruly this was done automatically. They really understand and love the curl. Drew coloured my hair, which is also wicked. The only fualt for me was I didn't get the head massage as mentioned by other reviewers. I will definitely be returning - and that's a first for me!

Wow! Went along to Unruly, where Drew did my hair. I was totally amazed. Drew is very talented. My curls are lush now and I look and feel geat. Had my back massaged whilst my hair was washed, and then a gorgeous head massage too. A big thank you to all the staff at Unruly!

Brought in a photo. They said they could do it. Got it completely wrong. Ended up with practically no hair on the sides, back and top, with just one massive side fringe... basically I looked stupid.

Possibly the shabbiest haircut I have ever had.

Went to Unruly, specifically to see Michael, based on the fab reviews on this site. He did a fantastic job with my curly hair, way better than any other hairdresser I have been to in the past. I had a cut and highlights, which were both great, and, on his advice, I am now using just one product - Curls Rock - instead of the three mixed together I was using before (my hair is much lighter and softer for it). He did an amazing job diffuse-drying it and, for the first time ever, I left a hair salon totally happy and not wanting to rush home and re-wash my hair. I will definitely be back to see Michael.

Would highly recommend Michael. Amazing service. He really inspired confidence - the first hairdresser I've come across in London that embraced curly hair and wasn't scared of it. He totally knows what he's talking about. I love my cut and will be going back for more!

After years of wasting my time using straightening irons, I decided it was time to accept that I have curly hair and get a hair cut that works with it. I chose Unruly Studio based on the write-up in Time Out. I felt I was in capable hands as soon as I walked in the door. Michael did a great job, going to lengths I've never experienced elsewhere - wash and blow dry your hair before cutting just to see how it goes before deciding what to do - and I am really pleased with the result. I also got loads of guidance on how to style and treat my hair every day. Superb!

Michael was recommended to me by several people. So, after many years of suffering at the hands of bad hairdressers in my constant quest for the perfect shade of blonde, I went to see what all the fuss was about. I can honestly say I will never go anywhere else now. Michael is a genius and has not only helped me to achieve my perfect shade of blonde but has also worked wonders with my fine, dead straight hair. The studio is cool (but not intimidatingly so), the staff are friendly and the music is always great. Top marks for Unruly Studio!

Like others on here I did a lot of looking around hair salons to find the right one and I came upon Unruly Studio. It caught my eye because I live 5 mins away and because it looked like they had a lot of satisfied customers.

The lady on the phone was very efficient in booking an appointment for me on Valentine's Day morning, even though other salons were booked up on that day. When I got there I was offered drinks and I was swiftly put in the hands of Pawel. The shampooing was fab, the shiatsu chairs nearly made me fall asleep!

The cut was exactly what I wanted - not too much off the ends, just enough to take off the mass of split ends and to sharpen up my layers. The blowdry was nothing that I've seen before, he made it lovely and wavy which is a change from the blow dry straight that I usually get. All in all, I felt relaxed and could enjoy the experience that I usually dread!

The only bad thing is that it is slightly difficult to find the salon as it is part of Westbourne Studios which is a complex of businesses and media facilities, so make sure you can get there 10 mins early to find your way around.

After doing a lot of research about the best places to go for curly hair I decided to go to Unruly Studio. I went not knowing what to expect and petrified because I have never been to a hairdressers before. I had nothing to worry about because Michael is brilliant, he knows everything about curly hair and although he did not cut my hair, he showed me how I need to be treating & styling my hair to achieve the best look and I came out feeling brilliant. Thank you Michael - and thank you Grace for the best head massage ever!

Loved it. I had both Drew and Michael and trusted them completely. I had my hair lightened to blonde and it looks fantastic. I would recommend this salon to anyone.

Thank you so much Michael - at last I have found someone who understands curly hair! I travelled from Hertfordshire to get to the salon. It took just over an hour but it was totally worth it. Michael sat me down and went though with me how I wash and style my hair, so he could assess where I was going wrong. He then cut my hair and recommended a new product that has now become my new best friend. Then came the styling - amazing! My first words were "Where did those curls come from?". I went in with a head full of frizz and came out with big bouncy curls.

I was so happy. My hair has never looked this good. With Michael's step-by-step advice I have also been able to recreate the style myself at home. I have received so many compliments from friends and family about my hair. Michael is amazing and I will definitely be going back.

Thank you, Michael! At last someone who 'gets' curly hair. I'm a total hairdresser-o-phobe (you know what I mean?) - a trip to the dentist was always more inviting to me than going to yet another hairdresser who sent me out of the salon either looking like a shorn sheep or a poodle with a perm. I travelled from Penzance for an appointment with Michael and it was so worth the effort.

I had no clue how to get there but the receptionist rang me back at my hotel and gave me very clear directions. My rather tired looking, shoulder length hair was miraculously transformed into a very funky, bubbly style which totally suits my face shape.

It was a 7pm appointment, so I only met one junior (Grace - a little love, with AMAZING curly hair), the receptionist and Michael. It was a fantastic experience, very reasonably priced (I've paid more for the same service - full head highlights and cut/blow dry - in Glasgow).

I would recommend Michael unreservedly. He knows what he's doing and adores us curly-tops. I'll most definitely be back.

I had my hair cut and coloured by Drew at Unruly Studios and was really pleased with the results. The salon itself has a really laid back feel to it and Drew was also really chatty, which put me totally at ease (even though I'm very paranoid about getting my hair cut!) I will definitely be going back for my next cut.

I recently had a bikini wax and facial at Unruly and found the experience very relaxing and enjoyable - the facial, that is! Nadia, the beauty therapist, is lovely and really knows how to relax you. The room was very comfortable and there was a very relaxed atmosphere. It is definitely something I would do again or give as a present to someone in need of some 'R&R'. I have lots of hair, very coarse and curly, and it was starting to look like a cross between a spaniel and a witch. Been to loads of hairdressers all over London who haven't a clue how to cut and style curly hair and I usually end up in tears... but not last night! Went to see Anthony and this morning I can swing my hair and it falls into place - I actually have a style and it looks great! Am lovin' it, lovin' it, lovin' it!!

After years of suffering all manner of atrocities at the hands of stylists that didn't know what to do with my curly hair, it was with trepidation that I booked an appointment, at my husband's insistence, at Unruly.

To illustrate my extreme aversion to having my hair cut, I had not had so much as a sharp word against my hair for three years. THREE YEARS... and for those of you gasping in dismay at the thought of the state of my hair after three years of neglect, even if it was a disaster with the texture and suppleness of sun-dried straw neither the stylist, Michael, nor the apprentice (I'm very sorry, but I didn't catch his name, such was my heightened state of anxiety when I was first eased into the chair) who washed my hair brought me up short for my transgression. Everyone was very calm, kind and patient - there was no stress on the menu. The studio itself was bright, modern and airy, and the atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed.

My cut and style, you ask? Let me put it this way... Until my appointment at Unruly, I had NEVER left a salon without first hiding what remained of my curls (usually a drift of frizz, if I'm honest) under a scarf or hat. I'm ashamed to admit that I brought a scarf with me to the Studio, but I'm ecstatic to proclaim that I didn't need to use it! My hair had never looked better, and I walked out of the salon a changed woman.

Michael and company, thank you ever so much. You've got another faithful follower to add to your ranks. To my curlyheaded brothers and sisters out there, rest assured that you're in safe hands at Unruly.

I had been looking everywhere for the Dr Murad range, as I have read great reviews about it. I have finally found it, people! Yes, not only have I seen a result on my second treatment with the vitamin C range thanks to my new therapist, Nadia (who also does a selection of treatments), but I've also found a great new stylist who can deal with curly hair. Where have you guys been all my life?!
