Mosquito reviews
Really great bike shop. I found Gill and Roger friendly and interested - and that was before I bought my bike. Yes, the high-end stuff is expensive, but quality always shine through. Oh, and they do sell cheaper bikes too...

Rude, arrogant staff who are only helpful if you’re wearing a Campagnolo cap and don't have a life outside the bike shop.

I find it hard to believe that the negative reviews below are genuine ones, given my experience over the last few months. I'm glad that I didn't read them before I went to Mosquito Bikes or I might have been put off going. I was checking out all the bike stores near where we live but my husband suggested that before I commit to buying a bike I should go to Mosquito Bikes, even though it was further away. I'm really glad I listened to him. I was looked after by Gill, who couldn't have been more patient, friendly or helpful. I'm thrilled with the bike I bought from them and could not recommend the shop more highly.

Stumbled across this and I'm amazed at some of these reviews - doesn't sound like the Mosquito I have been visiting for over 10 years. I have always found the staff helpful and knowledgeable - several steps up from the 'corporate' chains which seem to be taking over London. I've recommended many friends to Mosquito - never had any complaints. Not only my favourite bike shop, my favourite shop!!

Mosquito... I might have been safer playing with a malaria-ridden one. After failing to achieve modification work booked well in advance, they returned my bike to me with the handle bars not properly secured. I discovered this as I cycled down hill on the red route at afternoon rush hour. This was such a dangerous situation they'd put me in with their sloppy work. I agree with the majority of the other reviews I've read here, they are arrogant at Mosquito. I was speaking to one of the partner/bosses of the shop and he couldn't have cared less, so it's not just a rogue staff member, it's the attitude of the owners.

Don't get stung by Mosquito. This shop is not for your average London cyclist. So much for a workers' cooperative. I only needed to phone Mosquito to realise they were not interested in my custom. Try going to Cycle Surgery in Holloway. Very friendly, patient and helpful. They got my £800+.

Agree with all the comments on this site. Never met a bunch of ruder, more arrogant people in my life. If you like being insulted and belittled then rock up and have a chat with these guys.

Always arrogant and couldn't care less about their customers. And they quoted me £50 to service my brakes!

Rubbish, will never go there again, even in an emergency! After my pedal fell off on the way to work I went into Mosquito as an emergency stop off. After waiting for 10 minutes or so for staff who failed to acknowledge I was standing there, I asked them if they could possibly replace the crank that had gone on my bike or fix the problem temporarily. Finally someone had a look and said they only deal in high end bikes!! The parts were "too cheap to replace." I looked around and ok they seemed quite a specialist shop but there was no need for that attitude, I had never had a problem before with other bike shops. My ladies diamondback mountain bike had served me for years and I was sure had years left in it. The woman said the whole chain and gear cogs needed replacing(?) Surely the problem was with the crank which had broken off. Anyways who gives a feck I needed to get to work. She at least fixed it temporarily and I wobbled into work and took the bike to the Cycle Centre (136 New Cavendish Street, London W1W 6YD) which is loads better. The crank was fixed instantly and the guys are really nice.

I used to take my bike to Mosquito for services but stopped because they are so expensive and my bike was already returned with something not working properly. Unfortunately my bike broke on the way to work, so I was forced to phone them to arrange for a repair. Having arrived at the booked time, I was greeted literally with screams not to bring my bike into the shop (remember, this is a bike shop!) and was rudely told that they were too busy to bother with me. When I protested that I had booked a time, they looked at my bike and said that they didn't have the part in stock (despite the fact that I had told them on the phone what the problem was) and to go elsewhere. Needless to say, I won't be going back.

A good selection of bikes/frames, just a pity the service is so rubbish, with communication severely lacking. Once they have your money they couldn't give a damm. Still waiting over a year later for my order to be completed. A shame, because the products they sell are top notch.

Finally a bike shop selling something different to Evans! Great gear, smiling staff who know their bikes, decent prices. Shame I need to travel such a long distance to get there.

Unfriendly, elitist and totally lacking in customer service. Ten pound minimum labour charge, my arse. Do not give them your money! Two Wheels good offer a cheaper service, with a smile.

Really, really poor customer service with bad communication. I took my bike in to be repaired/serviced at the end of last year and they took over a month to repair it. Every time I called I got a plethora of reasons why it had not been sorted, from the needed parts no longer being in stock to them being tied up with other orders (after a month). I am thoroughly unimpressed and have gone out of my way to go elsewhere ever since.
