Hereford Road reviews
Really disappointing dinner for four. Service was very friendly, but didn't make up for the fact that we waited over 20 minutes to learn that the bass for two was out of stock. Then we ordered the pork. 10 mins later, we were informed there was no pork, but the fishmonger had arrived with a bass. Another 5 mins later, another person in our party was advised that there was no pork (why wasn't he told in the first round?). Leeks vinaigrette were boring with a squirted-on bernaise-like sauce and an ice-cold, soft-cooked egg. Snail starter uninspired. Duck was very mildly sesaoned. Guinea fowl tasted like roast chicken. Bass arrived unfilleted, as "...the chef likes to present it that way." Well, after waiting ages to get it, we asked for some assistance. The waiter was charming and helped us out.
It was obvious that this meal took way too long (3 hours w/o dessert) and had too many slip-ups as a result of the staff not being informed about what was in stock. It always amazes us when restaurants don't make any effort to acknowledge this with some demonstration of hospitality. Maybe an after-dinner drink or a round of coffees on the house to say "sorry, give us another chance". We won't be back.

Better than St John these days. Dined there last week - the food couldn't have been cooked better and a three course meal and a bottle of wine came to under £32.00. Beat that, Tom's Kitchen!

Amazingly priced wine list, really great food and a lovely light space. We also had one of the romantic love seats for two! Would definitely go again - neigbourhood restaurants like this don't come along every day.

Really lovely dinner. Nice service, a jug of water without the need to ask, simple, fresh food. Had a rabbit stew and it was delicious. When the bill arrived, there was no 'service charge' added, so we really wanted to tip. Overall, nothing to fault! Will be back!!
