This is, simply, the best restaurant in London. The staff are friendly, without being obsequious, the surroundings are simple and happy, the food is just well sourced, unusually combined and perfectly prepared. If you eat nowhere else in London, try this one (and no, I don't have shares!).

Me and a friend went here. She loved it because they do unusual cuts of meat. The portions are small, so it's good to order a few. Think of it as an English tapas bar.

Excellent food! Made many food discoveries in this restaurant. The bread is fabulous and the English puddings exceptional.

Ate a selection of dishes: langustines and mayonnaise, quail and aioli, green salad, braised veal shoulder with chard, brill with green sauce and boiled potatoes, chocolate brownie... everything was perfectly cooked, and so simple. Could not fault the food, except perhaps too much veal! Other than that, it really was perfect.

Slow service and stingy portions made this a pretty bad choice for our group visit. For £50 a head you don't expect to be hungry (and fighting over who gets half a lamb chop... why serve meat cut into fewer portions than there were people??) until the last courses. In our pudding we had to hack our peaches into halves (not easy when they've got stones) to make sure everyone got some. Wine isn't cheap, they'll serve and charge your group for lots of bottles of table water, and ask if you want to tip after including a 12.5% service charge.

Good food, but let down by the service. I used to eat here often, but became frustrated by the arrogant and facetious attitude of certain members of staff. It seems that if diners are polite then some staff feel at liberty to respond with over-familiar slovenliness and rudeness. A shame. Unless you are a (not so) Young British Artist, in which case you will receive grovelling and obsequiousness of a degree unparalleled in any other London restaurant.

Went here for dinner one evening. Fabulous food, but sadly the whole experience was completely let down by the waitress who obviously thought it beneath her to serve us with any hint of interest or enthusiasm.

Very very impressive English food. The smoked mackerel blew my mind, followed by the juicy lamb and beautifully done rabbit. Definitely worth trying!
