James Elliott reviews
The best in north London - always so helpful, and they even have veal! A bit expensive but well worth saving up for.

An excellent butcher, and the quality of meat is more consistent and far better than many of the Smithfield butchers or Borough. They are always happy to do particular cuts of meat (frequently will bone out double chicken breasts for stuffing). A bit expensive, but worth it... and I am supporting local business!

Best meat I've had for years. Staff were very helpful. A large selection of homemade sausages.

I started using James Elliott a few weeks ago. I live in SE London but no longer have a decent butchers within easy reach, so as I work in Islington I thought I would give them a try (they were recommended by a vegetarian friend!). I have had lamb, pork and beef from them and they are all suberb - meat like it used to (and should) taste. They are perhaps a little expensive, but I would rather pay more and know that what I'm eating is great. I would recommend them to anyone. I wouldn't even consider buying meat from anywhere else now. Give them a try - you won't regret it!

Excellent master butcher. We pre-ordered a huge rack of pork for a Sunday roast and it was trimmed to perfection, ready and waiting the next weekend. The pork was beautiful, so succulent.

Mr Elliott is a serious butcher for people who are serious about food. The meat is properly hung, the cuts beautiful, and the variety vast.
Do not expect to breeze in on a Saturday afternoon and buy the leg of lamb for Sunday - customers either arrive very early, or pre-order their weekend specials.

Great meat, real meat like meat always used to be. I live in Hampstead and always buy my meat from here.

Not only can you buy the finest meat in London, the staff make you feel welcome and the butcher has a wicked sense of humour.

Does some of the best bacon I've had. (including a very strong smoked bacon). Great steaks as well. With Steve Hatt and a decent greengrocer next door why go to Sainsbury's?
