L'eau à la Bouche reviews
Appalling attitude towards customers. They have forgotten that customers are actually paying them for their service and that they are NOT doing us a favour. Very very rude. Avoid this place.

The staff have a stinkingly bad attitude, and have acquired a reputation on that basis. I tell all to avoid it like the plague and go to Borough Market instead.

This is the most appalling place in all of London to buy cheese. Yes, the food is ok, if overpriced. But the service is absolutely disgusting.
The workers behave as if the customer should be honoured to be served by them - rolling their eyes in disgust at simple requests, making you wait over an hour for a sandwich, etc. The atrocities of their service level are endless.
In fact, many of the locals (such as myself) have started an ANTI-LA BOUCHE campaign, avoiding it at all costs!

There is a weird atmosphere in this place... it's as though you feel apologetic for ordering or asking them to put your stuff in a bag. Staff are probably underpaid and treated badly. Although the deli and coffee are excellent, if you want a slap-up breakfast you're better off going to The Pavillion where you 'feel good' afterwards.

Reading some of these reviews, I'm astonished. A local myself, I've been visiting the deli since it opened – it's been a massive boon.
I've found the staff to be helpful – suggestions are often forthcoming and usually excellent. I've never found the staff rude or "incompetent". Of course, if you're in a rush, this is not going to be the place for you – but then again, who needs to rush?
I really don't recognise La Bouche from some of the descriptions here. Stephane and co have created an absolute gem as far as I'm concerned.

In such a busy place it is sometimes hard to please everybody. As a staff member at this establishment, I sometimes find it hard to care both about making coffee and pleasing patrons. So most times, so as not to stress out, I focus on the coffee, and hope that the customers will understand and realise how hard it is to negotiate so many orders and people in such a small space.
I hear all kinds of feedback from customers, but can only vouch for the experience from my perspective. The cafe is established by a team that cares about food and good service, and hopefully as the business continues to grow, so will the level of customer satisfaction.

Slow, incompetent service from rude staff that turns openly hostile if you happen to mention that what they gave you is not what you ordered. Many locals I know have boycotted the place. They have a serious service problem, but the owners don't seem to realise or care.

Wow, I'm so surprised to read the bad reviews. I never experienced anything like this. It's one of my favourite places for coffee in Hackney!

What has happened to this place? The staff seriously need changing and the prices have gone up whilst the food is getting only worse...

The staff are sulky, horrible, dismissive and, to be honest, so far up their backsides they cannot see daylight. The coffee, however, is superb...

Although their food is nice, the service is bad... very bad.
When they are in a good mood, they treat you well; if not, you are in trouble! I also notice that I am paying the same price for less food now. Shame on them.

Terrible, never been treated so poorly. Staff are extremely rude and unpleasant. I hope they go out of business.

Horrible. Went last Sunday with a group of friends. Huge cock-up with our sandwich order. Manager and staff were extremely rude and confrontational, as if we were responsible ourselves for their error. A chaotic, disorganised place, with abominable customer service. I intend never to go there again.

This is THE hangout for whatever your kicks. They have it all; great coffee, sweets to go with it; a huge selection of fabulous cheeses and various meats, and beautifully eclectic cups and table cloths. I prefer the calmer weekdays, as especially Saturday gets very busy with the farmers market on. And they have the cutest staff too!

I love this place - very busy at the weekend! They have really nice nibbles for the weekend and the quiche is wonderful!
