I remember my first visit to the original Patisserie Valerie with a friend and established devotee some years ago. We had Croque Monsieur followed by the most divine doughnut I've ever tasted. Filled with custard and a glorious film of icing sugar on the outside. It changed my life. I have been there many times since and despite owning copies of the London Cafe Book I and II, I still love to visit Patisserie Valerie. Its cakes and tarts and ambiance are unsurpassed. Happy sinful eating.
