Embassy reviews
Couldn't disagree more with the comments about rude staff. The bouncer was very friendly, and even joked about our ID pictures with us. There was no problem with the guest list and we went straight in. The club downstairs is quite small, so we spent most of the night sitting in the restaurant. The music was still loud and there was still quite a few people upstairs with us, so the vibe was still electric. The only bad thing I have to say about Embassy is that the dancefloor is too small. I can't remember how many times I had people pushing me out of the way and elbowing me in the back. Other than that, a WICKED night!
by vip_lady, 28 Apr 2008TERRIBLE: I had booked dinner, put our names on the guest list and spoken to the Manager beforehand to confirm the guest list in an attempt to secure entry as some of the party were from out of town and it was a birthday celebration. It seemed as though they wanted any excuse not to let us in and trust me I mean plural excuses! One of the 'reasons' was because we didn't have enough females in our party however a bigger group of only males got in after us no problem!
In the end we went to Funky Buddha, as I had put our names on the guest list there just in case, where we had no problem getting in.
We got shocking treatment last weekend! Even though we were sober, on the guestlist and three pretty ladies, the rude bouncer refused us entry - yup, he simply didn't like the look of us... we are black, so you do the math. Say no to racism! This is a terrible nightclub/bar.
by shaza, 04 Mar 2008I thought this was supposed to be an expensive club, but it turned out to be really cheap. Go elsewhere for the glittery crowd.
by Mazhor, 03 Mar 2008Had THE BEST night in a long time. Myself and 10 girlfriends came up from Cardiff on a Saturday. After reading the reviews I was a bit dubious, but we all agreed that it was a brill night. Music was amazing, atmosphere was bubbling and we just couldn't get off the dance floor! We ended up getting into the VIP lounge - fantastic! Staff were fine. We will definitely be coming back.
by wa pow!, 03 Mar 2008All I have to say is that I never knew in this day and age that I would be turned away from a night club/bar because of the colour of my skin! This club is clearly racist towards black/Asian people, which is completely unacceptable for a club of its standard. But from reading the reviews, thank God I didn't get through the doors, as it would have been a nightmare.
Bad attitude, cheeky bouncers, and I guess a racist manager, as he was the one instructing his staff. Avoid the place completely, even if you have to go to the local pub instead.
The only reason I go to Embassy is because one of my mates knows the club owner, so we get good treatment. Apart from that, this club is wack, full of attitude from people pretending to have money, stupid bouncers and a fake DJ. In short, avoid the place.
by funkdafied, 24 Nov 2007I was at Embassy the night of my birthday and I thought it was brilliant - a bit steep, but what can you expect? Went again and I had a terrible time. I felt like I was a piece of crap just because I am a full-figured black girl. You see all the black men just running after the white girls. It's pretentious and full of wag wannabes. Never again. I am going to Movida next time. Food is nice though.
by natxx, 02 Nov 2007Went on a Saturday night with my friend. As we're two pretty blonde girls we didn't have a problem getting in, even at 11:30. However, once in the woman taking the entrance fee took £70 instead of £50 off us and refused change! Then the place was full of unattractive people dancing (badly) to rubbish music. Worst night ever!
by JennyLou, 08 Oct 2007More expensive than a great night out in Ibiza. Overpriced small drinks, bad DJs, terrible people living the dream.
Save your money - take a flight to Ibiza next year and visit Pacha or Space.
I went there for dinner with my partner, then carried the night on downstairs in the club. The amount of aggressive, jealous girls was unbelievable, considering I was out with my boyfriend just having a drink and a dance! The VIP area is so small, as the night went on you could hardly move. The food was nothing special and there wasn't a lot to choose from. The only good thing was I got to drink my favourite Laurent Perrier Rose all night, but they had even run out of that by the end. A poor night right from the very beginning!
by candyfloss, 13 Sep 2007I went to Embassy recently for the first time and put all preconceived ideas to one side...
I thought the waiters were friendly, attentive and always on hand. The food was excellent and served at decent intervals between courses. However, £4 for a pot of green beans was a tad too much! We gained free entry to the club downstairs, which was in full swing by midnight. Cool crowd and several 'Powerbirds' were in circulation too. Expensive for drinks but expected nothing less. Nipped out for a few ciggies and it was chaos as people were continually trying to jib in.
Overall a good night and will definitely go there again.
I was invited to attend a private party (for a famous rapper). At the door, me and my two male friends were invited to come in ahead of the other people in the line. The whole place was full of aggressive black girls, and believe it or not, as I was standing in a line to get to the VIP two bouncers grabbed me by the arms, took me through the fire exit and threw me onto the street alone like a criminal! This was for absolutely no reason - they just seemed to pick me (the only white girl) from the crowd.
I called the police, obviously, and the owner had to come out to answer some questions about my treatment. The owner apologised to me and welcomed me to go back any time, but I would never do so in a million years. And I recommend others to do the same.
My friend and I arrived at 10:15 - that's two guys with no girls - and got in without any trouble. The place was empty until midnight, as expected to be fair, but was the right level of full by then. The club was more expensive than I thought it would be for drinks - a fiver for a bottle of beer. The music went from bad to OK as the night progressed. The standard of people in there was not amazing, but again OK. I enjoyed myself but it didn't blow me away.
by singleguy61, 23 Jun 2007Was an OK night. Very very busy for such a small place. Drink prices vary depending on where you buy them - upstairs was £27 for 3 vodka and soda and downstairs was £35 for the same drinks... not sure how that works. But the people were nice and the music was good.
by whatthehell, 29 May 2007A complete waste of time. Avoid at all costs! We booked 2 weeks prior for a party of 20. All was well until we showed up 10.30pm. The rude security or door supervisors told us we couldn't go in as our party was too large and in no way were we to gain entry. This of course was not negotiable, even though we booked in advance.
by urbanalex, 20 May 2007It's alright, but it's not very much fun. Crowded, full of a crowd that is trying hard and just a bit tedious really. Oh, and very expensive. If you want to see Big Brother winners and display how shallow you are, go for it. Otherwise, find somewhere fun.
by holasenorita, 19 May 2007Nice club, really nice people, atmosphere really friendly and free drink everywhere! Came early and walked straight in - no queue at all. Dead at first, but soon gets going!
by xbeautifulgirlx, 10 May 2007Overpriced drinks, too many old suited men, too cramped and tiny in every department (even the VIP area upstairs), and the music was distinctly average!
by KellyP, 22 Apr 2007Went there by chance on Saturday as we couldn't get in to The Wardour. Despite reading bad reviews, we had a good night. The drinks are stupidly overpriced though - £19 for 2 vodka and cokes! £15 to get in. I think it depends on what time you get there as to whether they let you in; thankfully we got there about half ten, otherwise they would have been choosy.
by Blondie28, 19 Mar 2007Have we missed a great club in London? Let us know.
