Brixton Bar and Grill reviews
I booked a table on 13/03/10 at 8.00pm. When I arrived I waited for my dinner guset to join me with a champagne cocktail. I then asked the bar staff if I could order a meal, to which they explained that the chef was out shopping. I challenged this as it was now 8.45pm. Approx 20 minutes later I was told that there would be no food being served because the chef had decided to close the kitchen. This has to be the worst restaurant experience I have ever encountered. Me and my partner left and headed to Satay Bar. I will not be going back to Brixton Bar and Grill.

As a long-time resident of Clapham, bars along the common are getting overrun by people who seem to have just moved here. So I am quite chuffed to find a place like this one. It's got the Brixton vibe, a seperate pool room and some great music too (management seem to be partial to '70s funk, rare grooves and rock early in the evening, and old skool house later). I recommend anything on the grill, and what might just be the best burger in Brixton - with stilton on top! The area seems a bit rough, but it's an extremely cool crowd inside.

This is one of the last real bars left in South London that hasn't lost its soul. Not to mention a good game of pool. I work in the West End and live in Dulwich, so this is one of my favourite hangouts for cocktails after work - great vibe, music, DJ on Thurs-Sat. The new management have upgraded the menu and well as the sound system, which is nice. It's an original place, and it's more likely that you will meet cool people here than at any of the many poseur joints south of the river.

Popped in before Pogues at Brixton Academy. Awful awful awful. One of the bar staff walked out because the owner was shouting at her. This left them understaffed and clearly unable to cope. We were overcharged and then had to wait an age for food. When it came it did so in dribs and drabs. We ate slowly but finished everything and still my main hadn't arrived. I asked the owner how long it would be and it felt like he threatened me! On asking for a refund he said, "Don't make this worse than it already is. Do you want me to just throw it away? Sit down"! What a shambles. NEVER, EVER, EVER going near the place again. Shame as it's a great location and the pizza place that was there a few years ago was class. 0/10.

The worst bar in London. I am stunned at the incompetence and bad manners of the bar staff. Nasty people - trust me, you'll find out if you go yourself!

I have never been anywhere with staff quite as rude. We waited for ages to get served and then the staff were very rude. No one seemed to know what they were doing, or in fact care for what they were doing.

It was my first time at the BBAG, and thankfully the last. From the smell of fish on the outside to urine-stinking unisex toilets, this place was easily the worst bar I have been to in London.
The music was promising, and with plenty of seating it looked like we could stay for 10 minutes, but the bar staff were beyond rude. My order of 2 cocktails was obviously too complicated for them, and what seemed like the owner of this hideous joint threw a hissy fit after getting the order wrong. No eye contact, no pleasantries, and no manners.
Then the next round came and they decided to overcharge from the listed price for a bottle of wine, then overcharge for a simple vodka and lemonade. Once challenged, again a hissy fit of excuses as to why they were overcharging by about 40%. No apologies for overcharging, only rudeness.
Stupidly, there was a third round, and the barmaid insisted on no eye contact, no pleasantries and then paused whilst she had a little drink of her own. Then the plastic cups came out at 10pm because they couldn't wash up the glasses quickly enough. That was the last straw. NEVER AGAIN.

Definitely the coolest bar in Brixton, it's like an oasis off the madness of Atlantic Road. Great staff, a fantastic wine and cocktail list, and the unisex toilets really top off the laid back and fun vibe of this place.

BBAG is a very cool place to hang out if you’re cool enough to handle the laid back pace and 'make the place your own' approach of the management and staff. The staff have a respectfully stand-off ‘Mi casa es su casa’ vibe about them, which is just perfect after a hard day at work as the last thing you need is someone else’s staff hounding you. I've always felt relaxed and at home down there. The tapas is a perfect way to chill and have a few nibbles, either while waiting for the generous main courses with friends or just something to get your teeth into while waiting for friends to arrive.
I never visited the BBAG before the new management took over in 2006. This should be noted and makes all previous reviews prior to this date null and void. The food is alchemy of local produce from local suppliers. The selection of continental lagers whispers of a quiet refinement of choice, and the cocktails are made in a truly slow and deliberate manner by caring professional cocktail makers and shakers. The music selection in the front comes courtesy of the music professional DJ/proprietor and in the back, more private area, DJs are provided by a mixture of private party goers and the proprietor's DJ friends. Who could ask for more from the infamously creative music scene of Brixton?

Great bar, friendly service, cool tunes and yummy food. Just what Brixton needs - no trouble, no attitudes, just good times. Can get busy at the bar, but it's all done with a smile.

I love it here, the food is great and I never have any problems with the service. (Perhaps Mr Disgruntled treated the bar staff with a patronising tone - nobody likes that!) I can totally recommend the cocktails, which are delicious, and the brilliant steak - so good and tender you honestly don't need a steak knife to cut it. I'll be back again and again.

If your idea of a good night out is standing at a bar for 20 mins at a time without getting served, then look no further. Worst bar service in London. Avoid.

Loved the food, the staff and the venue, and I haven't even been there when a DJ's played any music, so I can only imagine this place even gets better with music!

Great staff, table service, good wine list and above average cocktails... what else do you need?

Lovely staff, cool cocktails, trendy but suitably toned down for south London.

Moved back to Brixton 6 months ago and thank god for Brixton Bar and Grill, my new local! So glad there is at least one place that I can go with no attitude. You gotta love it.

Fantastic menu with wide choice, great food and helpful, friendly staff. What's not to like? So maybe I was tipsy on arrival - but I'll still enjoy next time!
