Was in Eclipse last night. Had some lovely, moderately priced cocktails and there was a great atmosphere. However, the evening was marred slightly as there was a group of loud Scottish gentlemen in the corner drinking champagne out of the bottle.
by Henryskiter, 17 Apr 2008Fab bar - I make a point of visiting here every time I am in London. Yes expensive, but worth it for the atmosphere... and of course they make the best cocktails in the world. I have always found the staff excellent and love the loo attendant, she is something else.
by alison23, 12 Feb 2008£20 for a vodka and tonic and an orange juice in the downstairs bar in South Kensington Eclipse on a busy Saturday night. Bar tender didn't even bother to use the till or provide a receipt, then when I asked him for my change he told me to f*** off and pointed to the bouncer as if I had committed a sin!
by Dave B, 10 Sep 2007Always a good start to the evening here. Great staff who know how to deal with their customers. Great intimate place, not over the top, calm and seductive at the same time!
by minki (2 reviews), 30 Aug 2007Nice and cosy. Music is great - you can dance all night long. Friendly environment. We always have a good time at Eclipse.
by maropo, 05 Jun 2007Great bar, yummy snacks (tiger prawns in hollandaise with champagne, mmmm!!!), buzzy but not crazy, friendly staff, comfy seats. I really enjoyed it and recommend it.
by Anonymous, 16 Aug 2006Mixed feeling about this place. Yes it's full of pretentious people, the drinks are expensive and the bouncers are rude. It's very small and crowded and you may end up standing. If you don't often these sort of places then Eclipse isn't for you.
For me, I like it, it has a nice crowd, a mix of the Chelsea and internationals. People are beautiful, a lot of socializing going on, and the cocktails are pretty good. If you're a regular the staff will be nice and friendly. It helps if you tip.
Perfect place to meet friends on weekdays or pre-club drinks on weekends.
What's not to like about Eclipse? Fun-loving staff, great cocktails and a great atmosphere.
by deeply london (5 reviews), 15 Feb 2006Full of typical Chelsea people. Added a £2 service charge for an £18 bottle of house wine. When we complained their answer was "If you can't afford it, don't drink it". Way too packed, and the bouncers were very rude too.
by rim, 06 Feb 2006This has to be the most pretentious bar I have ever been to. Full of posers revelling in the fact that they're paying way over the odds for a drink. They only serve one type of beer, and the cocktails didn't even taste of alcohol. The bar staff were extremely unfriendly and kept taking away my unfinished drinks.
by Cazzy, 06 Feb 2006Even though the bar was empty, we still couldn't take a seat downstairs without signing up for table service - with a minimum spend of £25 a head at the tables it was a little bit pointless as we weren't out to drink heavily. The staff were unfriendly, and were more interested in doing their own shots behind the bar than serving (overpriced) drinks. Won't be going back in a hurry.
by Clysgrl (12 reviews), 16 Feb 2005Always had a good time here with attentive service, decent music and good drinks. Crowd are a mixed bunch but generally friendly and up for it - not just the usual Chelsea set.
