Vertigo reviews
Amazing views but the bar has literally threadbare furniture and a 1990s interior. An essential venue that everyone should visit once, but it's long overdue for a makeover.
by benski (2 reviews), 04 Jan 2007I had to book one month in advance as I wanted to go there on a Friday night which feels a bit "exclusive" kind of thing. (it's a pity it doesn't open on weekends). I have been impressed by the view, the decoration isn't bad but isn't exceptional, well anyway everyone is looking at the view outside.
I had a champagne cocktail with my boyfriend but on the menu there are also some wines that are cheaper. Staff are nice and friendly and people are quite relaxed. Perfect for an aperitif with boyfriend/girlfriend or to bring non Londoners friends/relatives you want to impress.
Superb views - you feel that you can almost touch the Gherkin from the floor to ceiling glass windows. Vertigo is a bit 'city' with everyone in suits - it hasn't got a contemporary vibe, but it's a reasonably classy place for a pre-dinner cocktail and good place to go with a new date (if you work in the city!).
