Taking inspiration from the Victorian apothecary shop, Primrose Hill's Lost in Beauty boutique is an enchanting playground stuffed with decorative fittings (antique display cabinets, illuminated theatre mirror, showpiece chandelier...) and a tantalising selection of niche and top end beauty products. Add bespoke make-up services, knowledgeable friendly staff, plus an after-hours Beauty Club, and it's safe to say you've got heaven-on-a-stick for your average girly girl.
Lost in Beauty reviews
I so wanted to love Lost in Beauty. I read about it online and booked myself in for a blowdry, makeover and file and paint (hands). The downstairs where treatments are performed was really busy with a hen party, so I found it a bit squashed. The blowdry was ok but nothing special. The lady asked me how I would like my makeup and I said I wanted a cat eye liner but she talked me out of it and said "smokey eyes" would be better on me! I went along with it but was a bit miffed that I wasn't getting what I asked for.
The result? I really didn't like the makeover. She put on a thick layer of foundation and way too much concealer (I have quite good skin, so don't need quite that much), which left my skin feeling sticky - ew! My eyes didn't look that great either, and as the day went on the shadow all dropped onto my cheek. Was so disappointing as I know I can do my makeup better myself! Also, the girl who did my makeup was trying to talk me into getting my hair done there - too pushy!
I am giving Lost in Beauty three stars because the file and paint was really good and the manicurist was quick and very precise, so really happy with that. Plus the shop upstairs is lovely. I would use the shop in the future but probably would never book in for a treatment.
