Leila's Shop reviews
Love the decor and the simplicity of the food but WHY are the people waiting the tables always so pissed off?? First time I was here my American friend asked for the bill and OMG the condescending response and the look on that older lady's face as she told us to come and pay by the till - so unnecessary!

Delicious. Try the fried eggs with sage or just a bottle of ice cold chocolate milk... yum.

Walk past this most days on my way to work. Seems vaguely interesting but has an expensive and not-overly-welcoming feel to it despite the cultivated homeliness they're aiming it.
If the place seemed a bit more approachable and advertised a reasonably-priced breakfast I'd gladly stop there. But yeah.

I have to agree, the service there is bloody awful. I'm sorry if I don't know the ins and outs of your business. Not sustainable I'm afraid Leila - reputation is everything and, based on some of these reviews, yours is slipping.

Dreadful service with a "can't be bothered to answer your question' attitude even when there are no other people in the shop. Good concept of kitchen / shop / cafe but hire some friendly staff for goodness sakes and lower the prices.

Rubbish service. Staff much more interested in talking to their groovy friends than ringing up my packet of salt. Nice ceramic jug on the counter – £30! So not that nice. Is it a restaurant? Do they want you to come in and sit down? Not that clear, and frankly I can't be bothered.

New to the area some time ago, I went there with my husband one morning and asked whether they do breakfast. "Well, we can..." was the response, in a distinctive 'you're really putting us out' tone. We were obviously not cool enough for this place and they made sure we knew it.
When we went, there were no menus, no indication of what it is exactly, because - of course - if you're cool enough, you'll know. All too hard. Left-wing, antiglobalisation-type snobbery at its worst... all the while sipping Monmouth of course.

Can never understand what it is people find to like about this place. OK, the latte is good (Monmouth) but £2.40?!

Never tried the food just the pleasant coffee but the whole experience is like sitting in your own kitchen surrounded by delicious and delightful stuff.

Useless and condescending service. I mentioned that I had found the worst place to eat near here the other day to my friend who is local. He actually guessed that it was this place.
Basically the food is OK (if you can get any - the place is like a badly run 6th form tuck shop), but NOT the best food in town of its genre. If you've eaten in Europe and are familiar with good quality homemade food/solid peasant cooking then this place is nowhere near deserving of any rave reviews.
Go there by all means, but have a back up place to go to instead before your temper flares!

The best thing to happen in Shoreditch since Arnold Circus Bandstand. A legend is born.

Not a huge range but what she has is excellent. Worth a visit for any foodie.

Have we missed a great delicatessen in London? Let us know.
