Embassy reviews
I used to like the Embassy, but my has it changed. During my last two visits there were issues with our drinks. On the first occasion, they had clearly put something cheaper in to the bottle they were serving from. Last time, they served me a vodka and cranberry sans vodka, and a whisky sour that somehow managed to be clear. When I confronted the bartender, she insisted that nothing was amiss. Either they pulled a fast one, or the owners are watering down the stock in the bottles.

I love it. The Embassy is only place that I don't mind having a boogie in these days, where there's a genuine feel good factor vibe and no poncy people watchers.

I have not had the misfortune of visiting this establishment but would like to let you know how I got on when attempting to reserve an area. I sent an email to Embassy (along with several other bars) to check availability for my birthday. I received a phone call from the 'Director', Franke Lambe, who I could barely understand/hear on the telephone because of the volume of noise in my office. I had to ask a couple of times where he was calling from, (obviously having enquired at a few venues I wanted to be sure who I was speaking with).
Anyway, after tiring of his aggressive tone and general rudeness, I said: "Don't worry about the enquiry, thank you", to which he responded: "Get your facts straight you stupid bitch" and hung up. Nice! Wonderful customer service. I certainly won't be visiting this bar and will be telling everyone I know not to either.

I have been going down to the Embassy a lot lately and, as a fellow DJ myself, I have to say whoever is in charge of booking the nights there is really doing a great job. There is live music on Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Saturdays are really busy, with a mature funky crowd and a music policy that spreads right across the leftfield spectrum: nu jazz, neo-soul, broken beatz, boogie, raregrooves, hip hop, soulful house... I love it - it's my favourite bar!

Brilliant night out! They had a wicked DJ in the basement, with live percussion and an MC. It wasn't too crowded, so there was plenty of room to dance. Didn't have to wait long at the bar and the drinks were very reasonable. Met some really cool people and had a great time. I'm definitely going back!

Honestly, don't bother. Half empty, rubbish music, slow bar service, nasty doormen.

The Embassy's brilliant. The music's great and both the punters and staff are friendly. But I'm happy for people to believe the opinion of 'Anonymous, 07 May 2005' as I don't want too many people discovering it for themselves!

Really brilliant bar, staff are sound, tunes are funky and drinks not too expensive at all. Gets a little packed downstairs at the weekend but that's part of the charm - getting up close and personal with other people enjoying themselves...
