Broadway Market reviews
Broadway Market is unpretentious - like its neighbour Hoxton - and not overpriced like so many other markets! The hidden gems are the Marissa V clothing (the designer who gave us 'I'm not a Smug Twat' handbags) and a little unknown but fantastic potter - Kate Garwood Ceramics.
by Time Hill, 05 Oct 2007Despite negative reports of the impact of gentrification on the local area, the rejuvenated Broadway Market has acted as a catalyst for the regeneration of an area whose potential had lain dormant for many years. A famous piece of local graffiti claimed that Broadway Market wasn't a sunken ship but a submarine. The submarine has finally resurfaced.

by Huw, 19 Apr 2006This vibrant market stocks a varied and eclectic mix of goods from local farmer, artists and crafts people in order to tempt the customer to sample and buy. With shops, restaurants and galleries in abundance there really is something for everyone, be it local art, ceramics shops selling original pieces, shops selling a mixture of exciting and unusual clothes and gifts and furniture and lighting on sale.
The market and surrounding area offers unusual and stunning merchandise at affordable prices.
This seems to be an amalgamation of the best of every London market but without the crowds, hype or rising prices. I love this market and always seem to part with far more than I intended, but then I go home with so much more than Borough would bequest for the same money. Try the spit roast pig, the pickles made and sold for charity, the gorgeous little cakes and the handmade/recycled bookstall. I'm still discovering the wonderful range of thoughtful yet not tree-hugging children's and eco-aware shops that line the market. An absolute gem.

We get veg delivered weekly, go to Broadway Market for everything else and for the same budget, so don't have to go near an over-lit supermarket. Fantastic.
by Flora, 01 Dec 2005There is a fantastic bread stall called Born & Bread Organic Bakery. They make wonderful bread using a sour dough starter and the 100% Rye is fantastic.
It's apparently owned by those wonderful people at the East Dulwich Deli.
This a great undiscovered part of the East End. With a great farmers market on Saturday as well as a couple of great pubs (Cat&Mutton & The Dove). On top of this new shops are opening fast. Could this be the next Hoxton Square? Its already far better and more personal.
by Anonymous, 05 Aug 2004Broadway Market is fantastic. The farmers market (Saturday) has a range of organic meat and veggies, as well as jewellery and clothes . It is always busy and when you want to stop for lunch there is a range of lovely restaurants, I strongly recommend the Cat and Mutton .
by Anonymous, 05 Aug 2004Having lived in Dalston for nearly 10 years I've been delighted to see Broadway Market kick off. The Dove, Cat and Mutton and Armadillo are all great and this market is just the icing on the cake. Fantastic place to wander around hunting for fabulous breakfast items on a Saturday morning.
