Criterion reviews
I had a fab meal prior to going to the theatre. Wine list very good. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Decor is fab - couldn't take my eyes off the ceiling.
by Patsymarg, 28 Nov 2007I went to Marco Pierre White's restaurant, the Criterion, last Thursday and I have to say it's the best restaurant I've ever been to. I only had a glass of wine but next time I go there I'll definitely be eating, as the menu looks wonderful. Decor and service fantastic.
by catnip, 12 Oct 2007It's not always easy to book a good restaurant for a party of nine, but this restaurant was happy to accommodate. There are lots of cosy side tables for couples too. The service was attentive but not invasive. Excellent food, generous portions. The only gripe: you do get a bit of neck ache staring at the spectacular ceiling! The magician entertaining the tables was an added bonus but it still would have been a magical evening without him.
by trufflehound, 10 Jul 2007You can book with confidence now that it isn't 'Frankie's'. Removed from the chain and back as part of Marco Pierre White's. French, with excellent food, good wine list. We'll be back in May and looking forward to it.
by Sersoned Diner Hazel, 22 Mar 2007It has tall ceilings and the interior is wonderful. I had no problem with the staff or service. However, there were many tourists who were annoying, especially with the flashes on their cameras as they snapped pictures while eating.
by Beach Lover, 11 May 2006Beautiful interior, relaxing atmosphere, and one of the best places to eat Italian food in London. Great to go with friends or on a date.
by jojoto (2 reviews), 14 Apr 2006The interior of the building absolutely beautiful. Food very good but felt staff could be slightly more attentive.
by Anonymous, 19 Oct 2005Beautiful building but poor quality almost tasteless food produced without panache.
by Suzanne McKie (2 reviews), 10 Jan 2005Probably the most impressive and grandiose decor in London. It has an amazingly high ceiling of sparkly tiles over the huge dining area, and the style of dining is quite formal. French food is good but maybe a bit unimaginative and the service is rather slow. But a good place to impress business colleagues or maybe in-laws! Good post theatre dining option.
