Ealing Park Tavern reviews

Arrived at 6pm. Restaurant space was empty. Went to bar. Waited nearly 10 minutes to be served - one barmaid working, others busying themselves doing other things (changing music, eating takeaway food etc). Once served, asked if we could have some food in bar space. Was told only in restaurant space (even though 10 minutes later someone beside us was brought food). So had a drink then wandered into restaurant space a half hour later - now with 3 of about 20 tables occupied - to be told we needed a reservation!

Just really poor service... and not cheap for what is just a gastro pub. Never experienced anything like it.

The Ealing Park Tavern - what a wonderful place. My wife and I have been going there every year on our wedding anniversary and always are made to feel welcome and special. Once I was so impressed by the food that I offered to buy the head chef a drink. His reponse was that it was a team effort and although he would accept the drink he would have to split it with his team. As a result I thought yes, that's a fair comment, but was not going to be a cheapskate so I bought the whole team a drink. Last year the manager offered us some champagne but we had to decline his generous offer due to the fact that I was driving and my wife had already downed two bottles of red.

However, this year it was a different matter... Firstly, I could not make a telephone booking as no one would answer. As a result I drove down and was praying that the place had not closed down. Thankfully the place was open but I was told that they could not answer the phones as they had a film crew in. Anyway I told them that I wanted to book a table as it was our wedding anniversary and this place is close to our hearts at this time of year as we have spent all our anniversaries here (7 years). The manager took the booking.

When we turned up on the day, the food was absolutely wonderful but the service was really poor. There was no real meet and greet, just a simple escort to our table. I didn't really want to say that it was our anniversary as the same manager was on duty and I thought that they may make a special effort. However, this did not happen. We left without any congratulations or even anyone taking the time to escort us out. It was a real downer on the evening as we have come to expect so much more.

I am trying to put this down to a one-off and even sent an email giving our feedback. However, even though I took the time to give my feedback no one has responded, which again has left us a little deflated. I am really considering if this is a dream that has come to an end and maybe we will have to look at another place. I hope not, because we hold fond memories.

Dreadful place. Service appalling (unwelcoming and remarkably snobby considering the lack of linguistic skills on show). None of the qualities of either a good pub or a good restaurant. Cheap napkins, cheap and mismatched cutlery, greasy tables, dirty glassware, greasy plates with £18.00 main dishes! The food was good, but completely let down by the service and grime. What a bust!

Revisited after 3 years, and after checking and seeing very good reviews. What a bust!

Poor service, a steak full of gristle and a waitress who said she would show it to the chef and never returned. The manager explained that it was the 'usual' gristle and to be expected. When told there was another steak at the same table that was completely different, so how did he explain that, he said "Oh well, a different cut", and appeared completely unconcerned.

Lobster overcooked and salty, 'hand cut' potato fries dry and tasteless, risotto rice hard and also oversalted, and sherbet ice cream 'carrot and marsala' very peculiar... Other dishes fine but overall over-rated, riding on past glory and complacent.

A truly undiscovered gem! The food we had here was some of the best I have ever tasted. Our waiter was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. If you haven't tried it, you really should. We will be back.

I have been going to EPT for around 3 years and I haven't had one bad experience. Great food, good portion sizes with very pleasant service too. Fully recommended.

After 12 years as an executive chef, having eaten at over 1000 places in the world and worked with some of the greatest chefs, I must say that the night I had at Ealing Park Tavern with my restaurant manager and wife was absolutely superb. The service was prompt and very professional, the maitre d' was great and prices reasonable. The staff were very good with their information on wine, and were extremely helpful. I'm glad I wasn't treated any differently because of who I am. Thank you once again. Well done, and keep up the hard work.

I have been twice in the last week - fantastic Sunday roast and then great sirloin steak. The staff are really pleasant and attentive. Great wine, and the crumble was divine!

We now eat at the Ealing Park Tavern on a regular basis. There is always a warm friendly welcome from all the staff, the atmosphere is relaxed and the food is exceptional. What more could you ask for?

Food is OK (though I would not call the 'tapas' menu real tapas) but unfortunately the staff seem to be there to enjoy themselves and not to look after their customers.

Great service and fantastic food. Their steak is the best I have tasted in London, and their Sunday roasts are a must. Highly, highly recommended.

I think this is the second best pub in London - first being the Red Lion in St Mary's Road.

Quite a rarity for the area, so it is always full with local people. I have had many fantastic meals here, even during their 'low' periods the food has still been better than most good restaurants. Sunday lunch here is exceptional, especially if you are indulgent and have it on Sunday evening.
