Been there twice, a year or so apart. Brilliant service, great atmosphere and food. I should go more often.

My favourite restaurant - good food and excellent value for money. The decor has always been a talking point when we've taken people here (I love the loos). Celebrated my Nan's 80th birthday, my mother-in-law's 70th and my wedding here. On each occasion the staff really went out of their way to make it a memorable party. I don't get there as often as I would like, because I live in Walthamstow.

This place is amazing. I live locally and went last night after reading the five great reviews below. The layout of the place is fantastic, with electric little booths and a rich, fun interior. The food, from a small fresh menu, was interesting and tasted excellent, and yet was as cheap as you could ever hope to pay for somewhere nice in London. Coupled with friendly staff and a really, really nice ambience (including live opera singers on Sunday nights!) this is my new favourite restaurant in London by far.

Fairly limited menu, but what they do, they do well. Friendly service and definitely an interior with a difference!

Yes, it's true, Dalston really does have a nice restaurant! Don't make a special trip up here from central London, but if you live nearby then you have to go.
The decor is wonderfully over the top Egyptian styling, with huge sphinxes set over the fireplace, and some of the tables set up in little boxes that you get to via a ladder. I think there's even a table set inside a huge urn! Food is not Egyptian, but Italian/ English (they do a roast dinner here on Sundays), and quite nice considering the location ;-)
You have to visit the 'facilities' whilst you're here - the murals on the toilet walls are a bit of a surprise. Mythical figures with huge penises and Grecian ladies being buggered - weird but fun.
