The Hartley reviews
I went on Friday and my main was fantastic. I would, however, in future not opt for the scallops starter, as they were overcooked and not fresh. But my friends' starters looked good.
by glamanda, 21 Apr 2008Unfortunate to eat in upstairs room. Although next to the kitchen, food took ages to come, was cold and not worth the money. The area was extremely dirty and the state of the sink and loo (used by cooks and wating staff?) should put anyone off eating there.
by jlt, 25 Mar 2008The food's great, the portions are generous, the staff are friendly, the chef is funny, the pub is lovely... what more could you want, apart from sitting at the table nearest the kitchen (but that's because we didn't book).
by rebekahford, 10 Mar 2008Went here for Sunday lunch and it was delicious. The portions for the roasts were enormous and my tuna was cooked rare, as requested, and served with a delicious Nicoise salad. I'm looking forward to going back very soon.
by fussy (15 reviews), 19 Apr 2006I love this pub, it's a real treat to go on a Sunday afternoon, but you have to book in advance or go early because it gets pretty busy. Always a good sign of an excellent pub.
Atmosphere is relaxing and friendly, service is great, and the Sunday roast is English with a twist, loved it.
Live music and atmosphere are wonderful. Fast, new, imaginative kitchen staff needed (fresh food+fresh ideas!)... but A-plus on the front-of-house sexiness. If you live in the area, why is this not your local already?
by Patti, 05 Dec 2005Excellent food & good friendly service, was there on Tuesday night had live jazz singer & guitarist-whole experience was really enjoyable-definitely going back.
