Destination reviews
Perfect gym for one-on-one training. I've been a member for three months and have really gotten into shape. However, there are no classes and they have short hours. I would definitely recommend the personal training though!
by Teeth, 15 Dec 2007Out of all the gyms I've tried in London (Virgin, Holmes Place, LA Fitness), this is without a doubt the best. I usually hate going to any gym, it's usually a chore and not a pleasure, but at Destination it's totally different. I actually like being there! The trainers are fantastic, it's never crowded, there are always machines free, and staff are lovely and genuinely interested - they're there if you need them, but leave you in peace when you need it. Because it's owned by one of the trainers, it's got a much nicer personal feel. It makes a change to feel like a member not a number. If you usually loathe going to the gym, try this place!
by lyon79, 01 Nov 2007Destination - well, what can I say, the gym is a godsend! I have been working out there for 2 years. Great gym, great staff and fantastic personal training. I have lost 2 stones in weight and am shaping up. Don't knock it until you have tried it. I have been a member at a few gyms in the past, and even though Destination is small, it knocks the socks off many. At Destination you're not just a number. It's a real pleasure to be a member.
I have also had a few massages there and let me tell you the sports massage is great!
Friendly gym - small, but it doesn't matter. I'm not into classes and this gym is perfect for me. I never have to wait for machinery and they provide you with a nice white, CLEAN towel. They have lovely shower gels and moisturisers in the showers for members. I have always felt looked after and really like the fact that as a member you get reductions on a lot of the beauty treatments, including Toni & Guy.
by bigbum, 07 Jun 2007This gym is small and friendly and the staff are really helpful. You get free towels, which is a bonus. There is a fantastic beauty retreat that does practically everything you could wish for. The personal trainers are there to offer you expert advice, should you need it, and are always happy to help with any problems you may have.
by maldon, 06 Jun 2007It is small, but that doesn't really matter as you never have to wait for machines. They provide your shower towel so you dont have to lug one round with you all day. I have never had a dirty towel and I've been a member for a long time, so don't know why that was written in another review. Excellent staff, always willing to help. They have classes Thursday nights.
by stefano101, 06 Jun 2007Nothing of substance. At the end of my 4 week programme my trainer told me we would have a look at results, but it never happened.
by sunshine5, 29 May 2007The gym is nothing special. There are no classes, no tissue available, no range of TV channels to watch and the towels are always dirty. Plus the gym lacks some of the basic machines you would normally expect to find. For the price you pay, it's very overrated. Also, while I was using the gym there was no beauty therapist available for a whole 2 months. The hours they open are really short too. I would not recommend.
by spyinthesky, 24 May 2007Nice and quiet and close to work for me. Rather expensive for what there is though, plus no classes. Also, whenever I have been, there have been no trainers/staff in the gym upstairs just to keep an eye on things or to be there if people need to ask questions about the machines. Basically, it's a lot of money for not enough personal attention.
by Mrs Digital, 16 Apr 2007I have been attending this gym since August 2006. It's quiet but lively, and there's no queueing for any of the machines like at LA Fitness round the corner. The personal trainers are a must. I would not hesitate to recommend Destination to anyone.
by piers288, 10 Jan 2007I've been visiting this gym for about 3 months but have decided to quit. Their opening hours are very short - they're open on Saturdays till 5 o'clock, they close on Sundays. I'd been looking where to weigh myself but couldn't find the scales (when I asked for them a staff member promised to bring them but never did). And they always run out of tissue paper, so you have to bring your own to wipe the sweat. Not happy at all! Will go back to Canons.
by kelly_03, 30 Oct 2006Fab gym, amazing personal trainers and lovely Molton Brown goodies in the bathroom! They also have a fight room for martial arts training, and gorgeous facials/massages as well. Would really recommend this to anyone who finds the big chain gyms depressing and incompetent.
by Mr and Mrs S, 22 Sep 2006Their personal trainers are fab - they really get you working hard, and you don't have to join the gym to use them. Excellent facials too.
by cje, 09 Feb 2006This is a nice gym - really new equipment and the friendliest, most genuine staff I've ever met. Sadly they don't do classes and the range of weights machines in the upstairs (regular) gym is quite limited. If you have a personal trainer you get to use the much better stocked downstairs gym, which is a bit elitist but understandable. I love the fact that it's quiet, but I doubt that the owners do and suspect that will change soon!
by cut2quick (4 reviews), 07 Dec 2005I joined 2 months ago and found the gym perfect for me. I tend to dislike large impersonal gym chains, and Destination isn't anything like that. It might seem too small for some people, but it's got a good range of cardio and resistance equipment in the upstairs gym as well as a large gym downstairs if you can afford personal training!
The best bit is the lovely Molton Brown smellies and GHD straighteners in the changing rooms! They also have 2 or 3 beauty rooms for all the usual treatments (the massage I had was pretty decent).
Have we missed a great gym in London? Let us know.
