This is a fantastic hairdressers. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere and stylists who really know how to cut hair.
I've been a regular for a couple of years now and not one bad cut - promise.
I’ll admit that I’m a fussy blonde, which is why I chose an expensive salon and one of the directors to do my hair. My highlights came out nothing like I asked and they were so far from my scalp it looked like I had 3 weeks' re-growth directly after having my hair done! I also had a cut with a junior, as I booked late and couldn’t get in with anyone else. It was the worst hair cut I’ve ever had. Was ALSO disappointed with the service, just little things like not getting a quick head massage with the wash and not being referred to by my name but rather as ‘the colour lady’. Really disappointing. I’ve been in search of a good colourist since arriving in London... and the search continues.
by ntay9283 (2 reviews), 19 Mar 2008This salon is the best! It is the only place I will get my curly mop cut. Anthony, the owner, understands my mad hair - well he should do, I have been going there for over 8 years! I love the fab new decor and the lighting makes all and sundry look wonderful. OK, the price has gone up over the years, but hasn’t everything? And anyway, shouldn’t we splash out a little bit to look our best? Try it, you won’t be disappointed.
by NikNax, 31 Jan 2008My hair was cut by a director but was very mediocre. He was too busy organising shop business and spent 20 minutes on a £50 haircut! Suggest he employs a business manager. Salon too busy and no personal service. Won't return.
by nasus, 26 Nov 2007I saw the website and thought it must be alright. Had Darrin (master stylist/colourist) do my hair. Genius and fun - made me feel great. Will be returning.
by Miss Ventura, 08 Oct 2007Overall the experience was very good, and I will probably go back. However, I do have one or two gripes...
When making the booking it wasn't explained to me that different rates apply to different stylists, so I ended up paying £50 (due to my stylist's age I pretty much doubt she has over 15 years' experience, which is what £50 relates to in their price list). Went on a quiet day but even though the place was almost empty the receptionist did not offer to take my coat, which you would expect if you are spending quite a bit of money on a hair cut.
On a more positive note, my stylist, though she didn't introduce herself, was very friendly and definitely knew what she was talking about, giving me an idea of what I should go for based on my facial features. Great haircut! I left very happy, and the few things I picked on are probably due to the fact that I used to work in the industry.
It's such a shame. A number of friends recommended 10500 to me, and I was excited by the prospect of finding a new hairdresser. When I visited they were overbooked, so I didn't get that lovely pampered feeling that other salons offer. In addition, my highlights actually bleached my clothing. So, all in all, a thoroughly disappointing experience and one that I never want to repeat.
by anon anon, 25 Jul 2007Used to go there for 3 years until now. Was always very happy with the cut and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed. But in those 3 years they went up from £35 to £50 for a cut and blow-dry, which I think is a bit too pricey. Will try another one in the area now.
by Belena, 05 Jun 2007I used to work here when I was 15 as a hair washer on Saturdays. Needed a haircut so I thought why not pop in for one! Needless to say that the cut was fantastic and all the staff were incredible. I remember the cuts and colour being amazing when I worked there and often marvelled at their talent whilst I was sweeping up. Nothing has changed since 5 years ago. 5 stars.
by Lamzy (8 reviews), 26 May 2007I moved to the area recently and 10500 is a Godsend. I must admit, I went to the salon for the first time with a sense of trepidation - would they muck up my hair? However, as soon as I sat down for my highlights I was inspired with confidence, and I could not be happier with the colour. The stylist who cut my hair is a genius, blending funk with femininity - where has he been all my life?? 10500, you rock! See you in 2 months...
by The Broker, 10 Mar 2007I really don't see what all the fuss is about! I went to 10500 about a month ago. It was OK but certainly nothing special. The cut was average (I should also add that my hairdresser was the director of the salon). He cut quite a few heavy chunks out of my hair which I wasn't too impressed with (not sure if this is some kind of trendy thing at the moment, but all I know is that it looks awful on your hair a few weeks after).
If I do go back, I will ask for someone else to cut my hair, as I always believe that you're really looking for the individual hairdresser and the way they cut - not the overall friendliness of the salon and the cool decor!
The stylist listened to exactly what I wanted. Just had a simple trim (with shampoo and blowdry). Paid £40, which seemed a bit pricey. But the staff are lovely.
by Anonymous, 23 Jan 2007Have been looking for a hairdresser's since I moved to London and have finally found one. I had my hair cut here and loved it! My stylist was very quick but she knew what she was doing. I told her I'm growing my hair so didn't want too much taken off the length, and she didn't (unlike most hairdressers) but instead just put loads of layers into a good style. I normally hate having people wash my hair but the guy that did it was great and I actually enjoyed it. Will definitely be going back for cut and colour in January.
by Katie eighty4, 13 Dec 2006I have curly hair; to my shame I've never had the same hairdresser twice running and I've spent the last few years ruining my hair with GHDs! However, I've now had my hair cut here twice and won't be going anywhere else. I have a fantastic (curly) haircut that is more than worth the hour it takes me to get to the salon!
by Rachel June, 10 Oct 2006I read all the reviews and didn't know what to think - I mean, what's stopping them writing their own? - so I ended up visiting one that was close to home. Staff were helpful and friendly, cut and highlights were what I asked for, and no surprises on the (reasonable) final bill. Not for the faint-hearted though - think Kubrick 2001 meets Iggy Pop then add some style! Will go again as long as no one opens a salon next door.
by evonne, 08 Oct 2006After seeing my friend's complete transformation I just had to visit her hairdresser. Her new-found confidence and self assurance left me thinking I want some of that. It was time for a change.
My friend suggested I just let the stylist do his thing - a frightening proposition I thought but after a 3 minute consultation I was relaxed and very excited. He changed my boring, long, layered, lifeless hair into a modern, funky, shaggy thingamajiggy with a fringe (told I should never have one). LOVE IT! Glad I went.
I wonder if some of these reviews are from rival salons? My friends that use the salon are all loyal customers. My son won't go anywhere else. I've seen certain celebs there enough times to know they don't go anywhere else either. The place is very busy Saturdays because they are so good.
by PeggyM, 07 Sep 2006Have we missed a great hair salon in London? Let us know.
