Fordham Soho reviews
I've been going to Fordham Soho for the last 3 years and have never had either a bad colour or bad cut. The stylists and staff are friendly and very talented. I would particularly recommend the remarkable Sean and Maxine. Highly recommended (have sent friends and they all had great cuts).

Just fab! I looked at all the reviews on urbanpath and decided that there were many more good reviews than bad. I called up and booked an appointment for half a head of highlights and a cut. I didn't want the most expensive nor the cheapest. My stylist was called Colin, a really friendly Scottish guy who put me at ease straight away. He asked me as many questions as he could about my past colouring experiences (I have had a few disasters!). We decided on the colours and I kept my fingers crossed. For my cut, we decided on a full fringe and more layers and that would make it easy for me to style.
The salon is very different but there was definitely a relaxed atmosphere. The girl who washed my hair was really chatty and knew what she was doing, which was nice. The end result was just what I asked for. There was no feeling of being rushed at all, just a friendly relaxed experience. Colin is now on speed dial in my mobile!

When I first moved to London a year ago, I remember Googling London salons, finding this one and then reading as many reviews as I could get my hands on. Their website said Sienna Miller had her hair done there (although doesn't every salon say that??). As she has my dream hair, I was sold immediately!
I booked in for a consultation and, new to city and on a budget, was recommended to book in on their colourist trainee day. Always a bit apprehensive about trainees, I decided that for about £20 it could be worth a shot. I had a full head of foils done under the supervision of a senior colourist who listened to what I wanted but obviously couldn't be too attentive as they had clients of their own. My stylist was friendly and chirpy and I felt quite safe in his hands. The colour result wasn't bad but wasn't really what I wanted either - the highlights weren't very fine so looked too chunky in my quite coarse hair. But for the price, I was just quite happy to have my blonde roots restored!
I'm not sure I'd go back and pay full price (if I remember correctly, they weren't cheap), because the salon didn't really give off a great vibe. It did have an overrated feel to it, as people have mentioned below, and the cuts and colours coming out weren't really my cup of tea either. Although, I see they've changed things up since I was there last - the name, the decor too... So who knows, I might give them another go in the future.

Sean has been my hairdresser for about 6 years now. He's excellent. In fact, he just gets better and better, and I always look gorgeous. The sign of a really good hairdresser is that you only need go twice a year, as the cut just grows into an even better style than when you left the shop. Thank you Sean!

I think it's way over rated to honest. Been a few times, the staff are friendly but I didn't get what I wanted so I had to find somewhere else. I have mega thick, difficult to manage hair so was hoping from the reviews that I might be on to a winner. Instead I'd recommend Martin Gayle (now called Look Fantastic) in Notting Hill or Redhed in Charlotte Place, by Goodge Street.

Have now visited twice. This salon is great - would recommend to all. The staff are all very friendly, the place is very relaxing (not bitchy!) and, above all, I received two great haircuts from the manager, Susan. Top marks guys!

I went to the salon around 6 weeks ago. On arrival I was greeted very politely and was not left sitting waiting. The receptionist (whose name I never caught) was very hospitable; she and James made me feel at ease in the salon. The whole service was really nice, from arriving to leaving. My friend was also given a glass of wine and seated next to me - very considerate. Will definitely be back.

I've just been reading these reviews. Loads of them at the bottom by 'anonymous' look just the same. Is this the Fordham White boys bigging up their own salon??

I came over from Northern Ireland and loved it all. I was treated so well. Russell told me the brutal truth, then worked his magic and for that I thank him - I would never have had the guts otherwise. Next time I'm in London I'll definitely be back!

I spent 6 hours in this salon last week, and they were fantastic! I had been dyeing my hair black for 10 years and am getting married next year and wanted to be lighter for the big day. It was a process and a half to get that colour out but Maxine managed it effortlessly. She worked very fast and made me feel very at ease, as she obviously knew what she was doing. I am sooo happy with my hair colour and the condition. I had a lot of chemicals put on, followed by heaps of fab protein treatments that really restored my hair. My friend came by for a chat too, and they were very hospitable there, making us feel very relaxed with a nice glass of red wine! It was the perfect salon experience. Thankyou all at Fordham White!

I had one cut here which was good and then the next (with a different stylist) was awful. My hair looks like it has been hacked and it doesn't sit straight but flicks out. Hate it and I am going to Mathew Alexander in a few weeks. The salon is pretty grubby too.

It was my first time at Fordham White. Susan's cut was beautiful, she really understood my hair.

Ben is fabulous! I'm new in town and my hair needed help. I was willing to pay (and it does cost), he knew what my hair needed and got the job done. He is easy going and easy to talk to. Most importantly, the man KNOWS hair! I hire the stylist, not the salon. I expect this will be the beginning of a long-term relationship.

Rubbish! Bad cut, bad salon. They need to realise people are spending a lot of money. But only once... I will NEVER go back.

Jason has cut my hair for the last 3 years and he is brilliant. You are made to feel welcome and the banter is great. Always offered wine or a coffee. Great place!

Russell was great - brilliant consultation and really, really pleased with hair styling. Understood how my hair worked and cut it accordingly. Excellent value.

I've been coming here since it opened and Ben White is the best hairdresser I have ever had. I always know I will get a fantastic cut when I go there. In fact, Ben has been cutting my hair for about 12 years and I would highly recommend him. They also have a spa downstairs which uses Aveda products. I haven't tried it yet, but the prices are quite reasonable.

I have just left the salon after a cut and colour with Russell and am so pleased with my new look. He is a genius. I walked into the salon saying one word - "short" - and he knew exactly what I was looking for and what my hair was capable of. I would highly recommend this salon to my friends, colleagues or anyone looking for a great hairdresser.

On entering the salon first impressions were good. However, having sat in reception for half an hour without being told anything or offered a drink, I began to wonder if I should leave. Finally my stylist greeted me, had a brisk flick through my hair and didn't listen to a word I said. As I was sat at a chair I realised he was running behind (no one bothered to tell me) and had four clients at the same time, most waiting like me. I left with an average haircut - so average that I saw the other clients he had leave with virtually the same cut! Really bad experience. Won't be recommending FW to my friends.

One thing that has not been mentioned, sadly, is the beauty section downstairs (does anyone know it's there?).
The beauty therapist is young and gorgeous, with an amazingly mature and knowledgeable head on her shoulders. She also has the most wonderful attitude towards her clients, making you feel totally at ease and rather special, without the false and over-the-top overtures you get from some therapists (or, even worse, the bored indifference from others). If you haven't had one of her microdermabrasion treatments then I would recommend that you get yourself down there for a consultation ASAP!
