Mahogany reviews
Mahogany is the best salon I have ever been to. I hate the 'stuck up' atmosphere in most Mayfair/West End salons, but in Mahogany they're all lovely. I had my hair cut by the international creative director and coloured by the senior stylist. My hair is GORGEOUS. I'm now a regular. Oh, and they serve the best cookies with their drinks too!
by muffin3444555, 30 Apr 2008Been to Mahogony several times for cut and colour. Always pleased with my haircut and level of service. However, will not go back for colour. Colourist not that good and seemed to only be able to to do bleach blonde or mousy brown, not the in-between honey caramel blonde I kept asking her for. A shame, as I spent a fortune on highlights but the colourist was never able to get it right.
by llbuk, 25 Oct 2007The worst hair cut I have ever had. I said I wanted to keep the length, but she took four inches off and gave me a cut and length that doesn't suit me at all. I would never go there again.
by belkin, 24 Jun 2007Average. Felt kind of ripped off. Better service and surroundings (though not better cuts) at nearby Nicky Clarke for not much more.
by missfine "top london reviewer" (25 reviews), 18 Jun 2007Had a great cut at Mahogany - this was my first visit - and with the junior! Got a great cut, closely supervised by the instructor who was very caring and professional. Friendly staff, unpretentious unlike many of the other nearby salons. Most refreshing - will definitely go back!
by clare rees, 07 Jun 2007Awful cut. Had to subsequently go elsewhere to try to sort out the mess they made of my hair. Not recommended.
by Lucks, 29 May 2007Best salon I have been to ever. I got a very nice classy cut and they were very focused about getting my hair back into the best condition possible. So worth it!
by likemyhair, 22 May 2007Friendly staff, great service, and a good cup of coffee... I love this salon.
by TW (3 reviews), 23 Apr 2007Got a beautiful haircut! The team were friendly and nice and managed to finish my haircut hours before my flight. It was my first time with Mahogany and I'll definitely be going back again on my next visit to London.
by Yasmeens, 10 Nov 2006I wanted a new look but instead got a really boring bob - I looked like my mother! I was also sold a load of products I didn't want.
by piggy (6 reviews), 25 Oct 2006I got a brilliant haircut here! Went for the first time today and will definitely be going back.
by Anonymous, 21 Sep 2006I have been going to Mahogany for over 10 years and would not let anyone else touch my hair. Great cut, great colour and fabulous service. I cannot recommend this salon highly enough!
by Joanna S, 14 Sep 2006Went in for an expensive haircut a few months ago. Had a senior stylist who spent the whole time looking at herself in the mirror, and pushing me into buying products. The haircut is certainly not the best I've ever had, if not one of the most boring, and it hasn't grown too nicely either. I will not go back.
by marie4u, 02 Sep 2006The only thing that I enjoyed at Mahogany was having my hair shampooed. The guy that cut my hair took off more than I had agreed and gave me loads of layers that I cannot manage in the morning, after I clearly stated I just wanted a trim.
by no fear, 17 Aug 2006I have nothing but praise for Mahogany. I had visited another hair salon for a colour, with very bad results. I called Mahogany in distress and they managed to see me almost straight away. The problem was rectified and my new hair cut was fantastic. Service was great, and information given on how to care for my hair for the future was informative. Definitely worth a visit.
by Danni, 05 Jul 2006Fabulous salon, totally cool professional staff. They really listen to you here - what a change! My hair is really difficult but my stylist very diplomatically helped me understand that what I wanted wasn't possible with my hair type. I call that professional advice and is exactly what I am paying for.
I'm thrilled and have told all my friends about the place. I will definitely be going back.
I only recently discovered Mahogany, but I love it there already. The staff are friendly and honest, and I love my new hair!
by Lyla, 03 Jul 2006I'm afraid to say that I had quite a horrible experience at Mahogany.
I came with a picture and a clear idea of a cut I had before, only to be told by the senior stylist cutting my hair that she wasn't prepared to do that as it wouldn't work on my hair!
When she finally agreed to cut my hair she did a pitiful job of both cutting and styling and a month on styling my hair is still a total nightmare. Go at your own risk!
Being a self-confessed hairdresser-phobic, am happy to report that Mahogany is spot on in terms of cut, colour, attitude and atmosphere. My stylist and colourist listened to what I wanted and what I do, and then gave sound advice, a wicked cut and funky colour - garners plenty of compliments!
by Velula, 24 Mar 2006I heard these people were long hair specialists(!) but they were truly awful. I asked the hairdresser to NOT cut my fringe above my eyebrows and, sure enough, she did exactly that! I was almost in tears and she just stood there with a blank look on her face and didn't even apologise. I reluctantly paid when I should have walked. Avoid at all costs if you care about your hair.
