Toni & Guy reviews
My sister and I have been having our hair cut at the Marylebone salon for years. We always receive fabulous service. The stylists are so friendly, caring and professional. I live in Yorkshire and have tried lots of other hairdressers for convenience. I always return to Marylebone T&G as I am yet to find a better cut than from the two stylists who cut my hair there.

The first time I went to T&G in Covent Garden I had the stylist my daughter had recommended, and a different colourist. The colourist was very good but, though the stylist cut my hair well, she didn't do what I had asked for. I then went back to a different stylist and got a guy whose English was very poor. He later admitted he'd misunderstood what I'd asked for and cut it so it looked ridiculous. He also took about two and half hours! On the following occasion I asked for a senior stylist and got a girl with a very bad cough who looked as if she shouldn't have been at work and who scalped me! I only persevered because I thought the colourist was good. I plan to get my hair cut elsewhere and the colour done at T&G in future...
I get the impression that T&G employ a lot of people who've been in the country only a month or so, who don't speak English well enough to understand what the customer is asking for. I was told that they get a lot of tourists coming in for a cut but not for colour. That suggests they don't need to build customer loyalty for their stylists. However, it's not acceptable that they charge so much and don't deliver.
One other thing: I think the receptionists are really rude - terrible phone manner and when you're face to face, they behave more like bouncers!

I had my hair cut at T&G Covent Garden and was incredibly happy with the experience. I went because I was devastated by a previous style (not T&G), in the hope they could help. Not only were they all lovely and friendly but my stylist managed to create a style I love. Thank you.

Went in to get my roots done as usual (platinum blonde), only to find out that my current colourist had left. She was replaced by someone who clearly can't colour hair at all. I left Toni & Guy with bright yellow hair, not realising until I got home because the lighting in there is terrible. I really did look like a council estate slapper.
So I returned the following morning, demanding that they put it right immediately. They put a toner on it which turned my hair GREY! By this point I was seriously p***ed off!! So they put another toner on it and washed it about 6 times to reduce the grey and yellow tinge (GROSS), but it left my hair ginger and in real bad condition. So I have come to a decision to just dye it all brown, despite the fact that I have been blonde since the age of 10.

I asked for Ombre hair at Tony & Guy and left with orange streaky highlights. So disappointing, and nothing like what I'd shown many pictures of to the colourist. I paid £100 for them to ruin my hair. They don't follow direction, they do what they prefer and what is to their taste, regardless of what the customer wants. I wanted block colour - I dislike highlights on me - and ended up with streaks.

I have my hair cut and coloured at Toni & Guy Marylebone. I have been going there for many years now, whenever I'm in the UK. I'm very pleased with the results that I get. The two people that do my hair for me always make me feel really special and, not only that, they give me confidence to look and feel good. I'm very fussy about my hair and I trust my stylists very much. I will never go anywhere else. Thank you, guys.

I attended Toni & Guy Marylebone last week. I had an appointment; however, the hairdresser was no longer available to do my hair as they had to 'fix' a customer who was not happy.
I complained to reception and asked to speak to the manager.
I said this was not acceptable, as I had left work early to attend. He basically then said to me that the other customer was paying a lot more than me, therefore was given priority. There was no apology, he just said there was nothing he could do and asked when I would like to come in again. He even had the cheek to ask me if I wanted to buy any of the products!
From my experience, I can see that the guy in question is a money-hungry person and customer service is not his strongest point. He is over the top with his fake image and fake personality. What kind of manager is this, running a salon?

Oh my GOSH!! If only I had found this website before I went to Toni & Guy. How are they still operating? It seems everyone who's been has had a bad experience, and I'm now going to add mine to the list. The store I'm referring to is Toni & Guy Bristol.
I was going to a medical graduation ball and that obviously means one has to dress to a certain standard. My foolish thinking led me to Toni & Guy for a cut and style, and I wanted mine to look like one I'd seen on Scarlet Johannsen. I showed it to the top stylist and she said, "Yes, yes we can do it". I wanted a braid, but she said she thought it'd be better in a twist (obviously to save time). At the end, she gave me some more pins and said, "Here, in case you need to pin it up". I thought, ok, that shouldn't happen.
Throughout the night the whole hairdo fell apart. I was not happy, seeing as the whole thing cost £80. Other people there had wonderful hair and it only cost them £25. I felt like crap - my dress was wonderful, makeup wonderful, hair... terrible. The first thing people look at is your face and hair, and people did. My friends were like, "What the hell happened? Here, hold my drink while I pin up your hair, it's all falling out!"
Called up head office, who were bloody useless and so rude, like you were wasting their time. They passed the buck on to the salon, but the salon haven't made any attempt to restore my belief in Toni & Guy as a professional hairdressers. Am planning on going into the store this weekend if I can't get any joy over the phone, and cause a scene. People need to stop accepting and settling for poor service when you pay loads for it.
My suggestion, if you see this before you get your hair done, is don’t go - seriously, it will end badly...

I was in London last week with my friend and we visited Toni & Guy, Covent Garden, for a hair cut. My experience there was very disappointing, for the following reasons:
1. We booked an appointment with them nearly 2 months ago. We were late by ten minutes because of London traffic and our appointment was cancelled. We took another appointment and this time we were on time, but our stylists weren't. Nothing was said about this because, apparently, the stylists' time is more valuable than ours.
2. My stylist was the manager of the salon and was constantly gazing around, watching other members of the staff, making sure they were doing their job. I was extremely uncomfortable with this as I would expect my stylist to give me her undivided attention when cutting my hair (especially when I was paying £60 for my cut).
3. When I made a casual remark that my hair looked a little uneven after she finished, my stylist immediately snapped at me, saying "Well, I have been cutting hair for 17 years. If you don't like it, you might as well go ahead and cut it yourself". Of course she was smiling when she said it, but that doesn't change the essence of her comment.
4.My friend's stylist left her in the middle to attend to another client. I don't understand how this is possible when we had taken an appointment with him.
5. Last and most important of all, I am not happy with my hair cut. I look exactly the same as I did before I went in for the hair cut. My stylist could not give me a new look as I had asked her, neither did she manage to get the split ends out of my hair. I can say with confidence that my regular stylist back home in my country does as good a job for nearly one-fifth the price.
All in all, they are rude, expensive and bad at their job.

I recently went to T&G in Marylebone. I was told one price and when I went to pay there was an increase of £15. When I queried this I was told the colourist had been 'promoted' - strange, as this was my third visit for half a head of highlights (£86). I stood my ground but this soured my experience and I won't go back there. It would seem customer service is not high on their prioriy list.

The third time I've had my hair cut there and nobody can cut it the way I want! Not good treatment if the haircut is terrible! I will never return! No stars.

I just had my hair done at the Toni & Guy in Harrow. Great service, great follow up appointment. I've never actually had a bad experience with any hairdresser, from the very cheap to the moderately expensive, and like every hair salon I've been to, they cut off what I wanted them to and put in the treatment I asked for. However, I've never had an ambitious cut, it's just a trim for long hair and fringe, so I'm quite an easy client.

A T&G salon opened across the road from the salon I worked in a few years ago. At first we were really worried that we'd lose business because everyone would see this new fashionable salon and go there. Well, we were right. Lots of people tried them out but what we didn't expect was the huge surge in business as so many people were literally walking straight out of T&G after their appointment and crossing the road to us so we could sort their hair out!! T&G don't have a very good reputation in the industry.

90% of the positive reviews for Toni & Guy are by people who have worked there (not including the ones who pretend to be 'happy customers' rather than biased employees). STOP REVIEWING! There's a big difference between working there and going there as a stranger to have your hair cut. No one is being fooled by you... you're just making Toni & Guy look even more sketchy.
Every time I've been there, or someone I know has been there - in London or Wolverhampton, whatever - they've been bitchy and unprofessional... and NOT done what I asked them to. What's important is not the style the stylist thinks would suit the person, but the person who is paying to have their hair cut the way they want it. They are the ones who have to put up with it every day, it's THEIR choice. Do what you're told, for Christ's sake!
They're nasty when you phone for advice too!

I went to the Toni & Guy in Marylebone High Street and was very disappointed. I have long hair and the stylist looked scared when she saw it. It takes me 20 minutes to blow dry it myself, it took her over an hour. I don't think they are bad, just inexperienced and poorly trained in managing long hair. Every single person in the store had very short hair, and they all looked great. Maybe that's just their speciality?

Don't ever go to the Toni & Guy in Fulham, they don't know how to cut hair at all. Toni & Guy in High Street Ken not great either. These so-called top hairdressers are all on such a power trip or something. I've just been with a picture and it was, "Oh yes that's fine, yes we can do that". I had one of the top stylists (Marcus). He cut my shoulder-length hair so that what's left of it sits in to the nape of my neck. Now it's going to take me months to grow it back again. The haircut didn't even look like the picture at all! Along with the fact that the hair was not even level and I had to go back and have the right side trimmed to the same level as the other side. Not even an apology from the guy. To be fair, the manager did give me a full refund. But this does not excuse the fact that they charged me £65 for a haircut that I didn't want. I am very angry that my hair will take months and months to grow back to my style as it will need cutting in between.

I found T&G, both in Angel and at Bank, awful. I would never go back to any T&G because I always come out of their salons disappointed and with not exactly great-looking hair. I associated T&G with London and the capital of fashion but my local hair salon in Budapest is so much better that I just wanted to share my disappointment here!

They are dreadful. Do not go to T&G Fulham. I have been and they did not listen to anything that I said I wanted and now I have a hideous cut which will take 6 months to get anywhere near decent. They make all the right noises but don't have anything to back it up.

I can only speak as I find. I have just moved to London and was not sure about which top hairdresser to choose and so decided on Adam at T&G. He is not only an ok guy, he knows his stuff. You tell him what you would like and he will then let you know the parameters. I am very pleased with the cut, blow dry and the service. So much so, I have re-booked for a blow dry every week and refresh cut with Adam. Not sure why all the negative comments on here; for me, they are the tops.

Actually, it is not true that it is worth complaining to head office. I did, about a very valid complaint, and have not had even an apology. I went to Toni & Guy for 15 years but won't any more. Their customer service is appalling.
