Asia de Cuba
Light Bar reviews
Nice ambiance and decor but pretentious and desperate to seem exclusive. Asked us if we had a reservation and told us we might be able to come in after dining at Asia de Cuba. Drinks very expensive and staff cocky.
by cystalhaze "top london reviewer" (20 reviews), 06 Oct 2007Not bad, but the girl on the door should be told to get a grip. Three of us walked in around 7.30pm on a Monday evening and she stopped us at the door, asking if we had a reservation. When we said no and that we just wanted a few drinks she appeared absolutely shocked, looked us up and down before saying we could go in but then also added that in future could we please reserve by 3.30 in the afternoon... We walked in and it was practically empty! And still half empty when we left around 9.30pm.
I liked the style of the bar (and the fact that it wasn't crowded) but faux exclusivity doesn't impress so I won't be going back.
Staff are rude, rude, RUDE. After having lobbed a 'discretionary' 17.5% tax on to your bill ("for your convenience") they omit to say thank you when you don't leave a further tip on a £90 bill for two cocktails and two salads.
Still, I have to say, I continue to go time after time - but maybe that's because the beautiful Asia de Cuba restaurant compensates.
Completely pretentious and up it's own bottom. The waitresses are over-dressed, the drinks are over-priced and nothing special.
by Honest (2 reviews), 30 Nov 2005Absolutely gorgeous and perfect place to have a drink, either pre or post meal in Asia De Cuba - the hotel's magnificent restaurant. Friendly service, intimate, yet perfect for couples or friends. Perfect ambiance, if a tad expensive.
