Excellent decor and very pretty but very funny about actually letting people in, which seems rather a pity.

Excellent. Staff are lovely and the place is very quiet and intimate. Very very tiny, but it adds to that cosy feel and is the perfect place for some conversation with friends over cocktails. Can be hard to get in to though if you're not a guest of the hotel. If they're busy you don't stand a chance, but if it's a quiet night and you're very polite to the lady at the door, getting in shouldn't be all that difficult.

Fantastic flavoured drinks, best Martinis in London. Amit the manager is a joy to watch work and always exceeds my expectations.

My favourite bit of the Sanderson, after the courtyard in the summer. Amazing design and completely other-worldly. The service is variable - always friendly, but sometimes a little slow at busy times, although the drinks are worth waiting for.

The Purple Bar definitely does it for me. Male friends complain that the chairs are too small, but this is not such a problem for most women (or smaller men!) Nobody complains about the cocktails which are wonderful and I've spent too many nights drinking too many lychee martinis here.
The only problem is that it's so ethereal and lovely you can easily lose track of time (and the number of cocktails you've had) and end up here until they throw you out, or you need to retire to your room.
It's not an easy bar to get into, but if you are eating in Spoon midweek and ask (and tip) nicely they can sometimes find space for you.

Unlike the Long Bar this is cosy and dimly lit. Only residents of the hotel are allowed to use this bar but if you are a charming blagger then you may be able to chat your way past the friendly bouncers.
