The first of this year's outdoor ice rinks opens in the Natural History Museum's gardens, running from November 9th to January 21st. Alongside the 1000 square metre rink is a smaller "junior" rink and a Victorian Christmas Fair selling gifts, handmade crafts and decorations. Observers can enjoy a glass of mulled wine in the two-tier viewing area, cafe and bar.

Went for my birthday and it was great fun for all age groups, from 6 to 44! We had an hour, which was plenty I can tell you. The stewards were on the ice and they gave advice to our kids about how to stay upright and move nicely on the ice. Went to the Christmas market first and the cafe for hot chocolate after. It was lovely. Only downside was the cost and maybe the number of people on the ice.

Went here last year and it was terribly overcrowded. I was fine as I'm a fairly confident skater, but it was my boyfriend's first time and he found it really difficult with so many people on what was quite a small rink. Blades on hire skates need sharpening too.
