La Porte des Indes reviews
Tasty, but with the £27.50 set menu there's not a lot of variety. The portions are small too, mostly sauce.
by drew, 03 May 2008Great menu, lots of choice, lovely surroundings. Worth the visit.
by Firework (6 reviews), 21 Apr 2008Very good food and service. The interior is quite something and adds to the whole experience.
by saucyland (10 reviews), 13 Feb 2008Great-looking interior, although even that now needs attention. Took someone special there and was not impressed with the food. The service was slow even though it was lunch and there were only around 8 tables of customers. I was disappointed - had higher expectations.
by minki (2 reviews), 15 Oct 2007Decor - impressive.
Service - a bit pushy, I think they wanted the table.
Food - set menu, very average and small portions.
Drink - wine overpriced, water very overpriced, cocktails (non-alcoholic) good but expensive.
Value for money - poor.
This place is fantastic for special occasions, even though a bit on the higher end of the market. It is well worth it to spend that much for that special occasion.
Overall, simply fantastic.
Restaurant decoration is marvellous and food presentation was outstanding. However the actual food received complaints from all 6 persons on my table, and so needs to be seriously improved. Also, the bill was very pricey. We left disappointed, and hoped that some day we could come back to the lovely restaurant, if only they improved and enhanced the food offering.
by Anonymous, 16 May 2005Recently visited this great restaurant. Service was impeccable. Food innovative and cooked perfectly. Lamb curry was the best ever eaten in London and fish cooked in banana leaf starter was terrific. Too much money for what it is but well worth a visit on a special occasion.
