YO! Sushi reviews
I have never been tempted to post on one of these message boards before but after my first experience of YO! Sushi on Poland Street last night I feel compelled to do so. The food was AWFUL. The sushi tasted of nothing, the tuna was overcooked as were the noodles, which had the consistency of overcooked spagetti. The meat dishes were worse (the chicken was slimey and fatty and bore more of a resemblance to pork than chicken) and all the food was served at room temperature. The only good dish was the fresh fruit.
We went on the chain's current 50% summer passport offer, so the bill was £30 for 2. The thought that what we ate would have cost us £60 full price makes my stomach churn nearly as much as the food did. I won't be going back.

Just called to order a take-away for a busy business and it was a complete waste of time! The call centre was manned by non-English speakers and took an age. Don't bother with these fools, get real sushi by Japanese people.

Seriously? I've been there once for a lunch deal and I will not be going back. £15 for that rubbish? Go to Yoshino off Piccadilly and get a great bento box instead!

Anyone that has ever eaten real sashimi and sushi in Japan will find it very difficult to enjoy YO! Sushi. The quality and freshness of the fish in comparison is terrible and very, very expensive. I avoid them now.

Not even sure how this appalling chain managed to make it onto this website. Certainly not one of London's nicer eateries.

Machine-made sushi. Sushi are supposed to be served cold but a lot there are at room temperature. Very unappetizing.

Why, why does this pitch itself as a good sushi place? It is like a Burger King trying to be The Ivy! The food is crap and the atmosphere is non-existent. It's too 'chain' driven and doesn't have the comfort and individuality that most sushi places in Japan possess. Just throw burgers and fries on the revolving belt, then it will be worth it!

Only people who have never eaten in a proper Japanese restaurant with a experienced sushi chef can give this place more than 1/5.
Watching them prepare the sushi is a laugh, no skill or art involved. Ok it's cheaper than most decent sushi bars, but shell out a few pounds more and go and eat somewhere that knows what sushi is.

Anyone who knows how good real Japanese sushi can be will be disappointed with this place. Overpriced, and I found the seating too cramped (YO! Sushi at Selfridges).

I would not even consider Yo Sushi as a place that serves real sushi. Go to any authentic sushi restaurant and you will know why. In my opinion, the people preparing the food at Yo Sushi don't even know what sushi is about.

Not so fresh, sometimes.
O2 centre, Finchley road - come early on weekends, later on, gets really busy.
Bayswater (shopping centre) - bit noisy.
MyHotel, Bloomsbury - in general, good.
Selfridges - the cashier overcharged, and wouldn't apologise. So rude!
Harvey Nichols - the best Yo Sushi.

The food was fair value for money. What infuriated me was that they charge for still or carbonated filtered tap water. (I pay my water supplier 50p for 1,000 litres of the still stuff.) I didn't see that there was a charge, until I came to pay the bill. If I went into a restaurant and asked for a jug of tap water I would not pay for it under any circumstances. On a total bill of £17.50 including the water, the cost of £2 for the water has added almost 13% to the bill, for what turned out to be two glasses of tap water. I think this is absolutely disgusting and dishonest. It appears that you can have unfiltered tap water free of charge if you ask. However, on my next visit, I had to have a battle with the manager in order to obtain it.

Never been a great fan of Yo! Sushi but this place is very different from your average yo sushi chains.
The decor is great and the service is a lot more attentive than the usual yo sushi places. The food is an improvement, the order menus are a lot better and seem to have more choices of sushi.
However i just could not erase my perceptions for yo, sushi. It is an improvement but not somewhere I would like to spend my own money to eat.

Tried the new Yo sushi menu... did not like it.
It was more fusion than Japanese. Their attempt at making Vietnamese summer rolls was a disaster - so much so that my boyfriend ended up spitting it out! Also, the classic Japanese dishes all seem to have vanished, eg: katsu curry. Also their portions seem to have shrunk... our piece of fish on the sushi was so thin that it was transparent! And some rolls we saw on the conveyor belt had a hole where the rice should have been. They have also decided to add £5 dishes which are definitely not worth it.
Yo sushi used to be a favourite of mine, but now I would not go back, even if I was being treated. I'd rather have a filet of fish from mcDs! (Yo sushi is really THAT bad now...)
