Gill Wing Cook Shop reviews

I was in the shop the other day and I have to say it is a lovely shop, but the best thing about it is the lovely young man who works there! What a charming and handsome young man. I would have loved to continue our talk about books but was too shy to ask for his number! Anyway, I highly recommend this idyllic shop and I hope you are lucky enough to be served by the young man in question.

What a fantastic shop! I have just moved to the area and found everything I needed without going to the West End. The manager even ordered me a knife that she didn't carry - it arrived in 3 days! That's what I call service. Will be returning.

Friendly they may be when you are buying, but BEWARE... I tried to return an item, which incidently was twice the price I could have got it for elsewhere. They do NOT have a sign to say that they do not refund your money (unless faulty) and issued me with a 6 month credit note. I don't live in the area, it wasn't convenient and the young lad who works there was downright rude and snobbish. Thanks, but no thanks. I won't be going there again.

I must say, my experience has been quite different from some of the other reviewers on this page. I found the staff friendly and helpful without being pushy. I ordered a teapot which they do not usually stock; I didn't have to leave a deposit and they phoned me when it arrived.

I agree with other reviews. Great shop, really let down by the staff who are unfailingly sullen.

I like the shop and the stock they keep, but like others I also feel that I am more a bother than a client. I sometimes feel 'stupid' for browsing and asking a question. They should try and train the staff that clients are important as well.

Overpriced items which can be sourced from other stores... or better yet, from the internet.

Great shop with lots of great items for the kitchen but every time I go I always feel like I am inconveniencing the staff. They seem to be more interested in talking to each other than in the customers' needs.

This is a well-stocked shop with lots of interesting kitchenware. However, everyone who works here seems to be in a constant bad mood, and they work very slowly wrapping customers' purchases. I've walked out through frustration more than once.

Lovely shops but their telephone enquiry service is appalling and there is no consistency between the shops as they are separate buying managers. So very poor service. Sorry.
