Turnbull & Asser reviews
Lovely shirts but not, frankly, all that different. The truth is that there is bespoke and there is factory-made and 99% of Jermyn St is factory-made and they are much the same. While I have bought and enjoyed T&A, I generally buy in Lewin's because, unlike most, they are keenly aggressively pricing what is factory product like T&A's.

I have been wearing T&A shirts since crossing the road from New & Lingwood a few years back, yet recently the staffing has become poor.
On my last visit I was politely greeted by two gentlemen at the door, but received a frosty glance from the young woman who turned to look at me after examining herself in the mirror. I continued downstairs to browse the latest patterns, not without the woman breathing down my neck as I did so. I immediately stopped in front of the size 16s, at which point she broke her silence to ask me my collar size? I would of thought that pretty clear. I said that I knew my size and would just like to be left to look at my own pace. At which point I received another vacant stare and she shuffled off to the other side of the room to look at herself again.
I made my selection (their mid blue end on end - an excellent fallback shirt) and made fast back upstairs to pay with the Baltic woman in hot pursuit. At the till I felt aggreived that I had not been served by whom I believe was the manager - a slight, impeccably dressed (and pressed) gentleman. I paid and went, saying thanks to the gents who greeted me on my arrival.
Great shirts... Shame about the service.

I had tried every shirt shop on the market (France, Italy, London) and finally in the last ten years I discovered the BEST shirts I have ever worn - those at Turnbull & Asser. I now only wear these shirts. They are beautifully stitched and of the finest quality. The first I ever bought was in 1998. I have never looked back, even though the price is impressive. When you get quality it lasts much longer... and you treat them better.

It's nice to know that there is still one genuine English shirtmaker around. Do people really think that they are getting a genuine Jermyn Street shirt when they buy a shirt from TM Lewin at £19? As David Brent would say, they're 'aving a laugh!

A very good shirt shop as opposed to shirtmakers. None in Jermyn St make shirts anymore, T&A included. T&A just make them in the UK rather than Asia. Good on them for that. Best shirtmakers are Charvet, Paris. T&A should have been our Charvet but they aren't.

Regarding the comment made about no sales, earlier this year I purchased a T&A cashmere sweater for £99 at Harrods. However, they only have a limited range.
T&A is the only shop worth going to on Jermyn Street. I do not waste my time with the others.

I have tried most of the other shirtmakers but T&A are far and away the best. Their 200 shirts have to be felt to be believed!

A shop true to all the real Jermyn Street traditions. Its shirts are both made by them and made in England. None of the pretend Jermyn Street quality will be found here, as with Thomas Pink and the like whose shirts are actually made in cheap offshore locations. This is the real McCoy.

I've tried most Jermyn Street brands of shirt and Turnbull and Asser are, without a shadow of a doubt, the finest.

I bought a beautiful silk dressing gown for myself and had one made for my wife. We are more than happy and will definitely return.

Only the finest shirts, silks and accessories on earth. Others are dull and shoddy by comparison.

The finest shirts in the world without question. The staff are very helpful and the shopping experience is just fantastic. If you have never visited their London shop it is an event to put on your 'must do' list.

I would second the previous comments, and add that the service is one of the elements that set this shop apart. The staff in my experience are first-rate - knowledgeable and helpful.

Definitely the best shirt shop in London - even if you don't go for some of the more outre patterns, the fit and finish is unrivalled. To correct a previous comment, they do have sales - every January and July - that offer very good value.

Quite possibly the finest in shirtmaking, with a staff that has impeccable taste, style and elegance.

Great shirts but poor service. Didn't call back with ETA of orders, 3 calls made to achieve this. Staff are friendly but unorganised and have limited product knowledge. Never have a SALE either.
