Jeremy Wayne's review of Axis (The Guardian)
One Aldwych Hotel
Really, really like it - intimate, gorgeous surroundings and great service.

Went here for a birthday and have to admit it was one of the most comfortable restaurant settings I have been to. However, the food was awful. The scallops to start and the lamb main course were tasteless. The dessert of jelly and ice cream was acceptable but hardly a dish of great difficulty to make.

Lovely decor and very attentive staff who really know the food and wine they offer-not always the case in most London restaurants. Suitable for couples or formal events.

Had a few very enjoyable meals here with friendly and polite service. The dining room is a bit plain but is brought to life by the huge 3D perspective painting along one wall. The food has always been great and the bar overlooking the restaurant is also very pleasant.
