I called 3 times to book a table for a leaving party. I was told I could only have the table for 2 hours. On the 3rd time, I actually spoke to the manager, after asking to be called back 3 times. She had the grave to offer to extend it by 30 minutes. I do not understand in this climate, when restaurants and bars are closing all over the shop, you would turn away 20 people who want to eat and drink for 4 hours because you "may be busy".

I will never be booking to go here again. Utterly disappointed.

I went to Chapter Two, which is now called Chapters, and was so disappointed that it had dramatically changed. And not for the better... Chapter Two was my favourite restaurant. What happened? It's like a gastropub menu, the staff are not so attentive, and the food was dull and basic (although I do have to say, they must be using a good butcher as the meat was fantastic and made the meal). Anyway, it's such a shame - now I have to find a new Chapter Two!

Quite simply, Chapter 2 used to be the best restaurant in Blackheath by a country mile but since the re-opening under the guise of Chapters, standards have considerably collapsed. If one wanted an intimate evening coupled with the most excellent food, Chapter 2 could not be bettered; however, since the expansion the place has a cafe feel and the food is nowhere near the same standard. Such a shame... Management, please take note - there is so much potential!

Had a really lovely lunch in the newly refurbished bistro. The main courses (lamb tagine with couscous, chicken with sweet potatoes and leeks) were excellent, the staff willing and very attentive, the decor modern and on-trend. Loved the exposed brick wall with mirrors and the leather and steel combinations. Don't go by the pic on this website - the designers have changed everything. Try and get a seat by the window for the great views out onto the heath. I'm going back as fast as I can. Cost £30 per head, including a glass of wine and two courses. Not cheap but I loved it.

I took a client to Chapter 2 today and had an amazing meal and found the staff friendly, attentive and polite. I simply do not recognise the restaurant that the previous reviews are commenting on! The food was simply excellent and the environment perfect for a client lunch. I will be returning with my wife.

Fantastic. Chapter 2 has answered the demand for a more relaxed and laid-back style of eating out. I have been twice and, while it was a little chaotic the first time (just a day after it opened), by my second visit everything had settled down nicely.

The staff were great and the range and quality of the food on offer was tremendous. The most memorable thing about Chapters has to be its steaks. They have to be the best I've eaten - anywhere. The sirlion I had was cooked to perfection. I ordered it medium-rare with a red wine and shallot sauce and a mixed salad. It was all beautifully presented. I washed it down with a glass of Merlot and couldn't fault anything about the meal or the service. Prices were pretty decent as well!

I shall be going back again. My next trip will be for Sunday brunch. What a great way to enjoy the weekend. I can't wait for it to come round! I'll certainly be recommending this place to my friends too.

Popped in for a drink last Sunday to check out the newly refurbished premises. Very disappointed. The bar staff have no idea - although they are polite, they look at you blankly when you ask for a simple drink. Although we didn't eat there, the food looked very cafe-ish and not restaurant quality at all. We waited for 10 minutes when we asked for our bill and they had the cheek to add 81p on to a £6 bar bill for service. What service?? Won't be going back I'm afraid.

This is certainly one of the best restaurants in Blackheath, possibly in London.

I live in Blackheath and went to Chapter Two on a weeknight. The service was diabolical, the waiters and waitresses rude. My main course was so salty that I could not even eat it. Save your money and go elsewhere!

I live in the area and have been here a number of times. However, last Sunday I had quite possibly the worst service possible. Our waitress was rude when we complained about some overcooked food and was aggressive when she returned with a new plate. This continued for the rest of the meal and, quite frankly, we couldn't get out of there quickly enough. The food was good - apart from the overcooked beef - but the terrible service means we will NOT be going back there in a hurry. There are plenty of other good restaurants in the area.

I recently paid a visit to Chapter 2 in Blackheath (I am from Manchester). I have to say this was one of the best meals I have had. The atmosphere was fantastic, service fabulous and the food... well, what can I say except 'Mmmmmm'. I will certainly be coming again!

Very good. The food is about the taste, not the amount (if you're looking for bulk go to Burger King and order a super size). The staff are excellent - if you have children they will treat them like adults.

Not much food on the plate and very expensive for what it is. You have to pay £2.95 each for small side orders of potatoes and veg (the very small main course comes without these). Staff were nice though.

I live locally and this is my favourite restaurant in London. I've been to plenty of swish up-town affairs (Nobu, the Ivy etc) and while they are great, I honestly prefer the unpretentious, affordable luxury that Chapter 2 provides. Cannot recommend enough.

Really not that great at all. Dated decor and very cramped. You will leave hungry and NO, I am not even near to being fat so don't bring out the 'pies' analogy...

Great local restaurant service well presented tasty food executed by head chef Trevor Tobin. £23.50 for a three courses (supplements on some dishes) is outstanding value. Lots of choice, lots of taste, lots of fun. One drawback, service can be a bit hit and miss but they try and they are polite. Give it a go, you will like it.

Some friends took me there. Why it hasn't got a Michelin star is beyond me, it is certainly better than some of the one stars I have been to.
