Cocoon reviews
Visited yesterday. Very nice decor... that's it. Service nearly non-existent and had to chase them up all the time. Starters were fine, mains a bit ropey. Very, very expensive for what it is! Not a bad place for cocktails (try the Jasmine Fizz - very nice), but wouldn't recommend for food/entertaining. Think twice!
by samjamjam, 19 Apr 2008Gorgeous decor and a lovely feel, just VERY expensive. Which is a shame, as would love to go there more often.
by Sheb, 13 Mar 2007Gorgeous restaurant, amazing food. Bathrooms need a bit of attention though!
by London (2 reviews), 30 Jan 2007Service was such a total bluey (that's not good by the way!). Absolute BLUEY!!
by johnjacko, 21 Jan 2007Ridiculous comment from the first reviewer. The restaurant is extremely cool and beautifully designed (it has won awards for the interior). Food was excellent. Incredibly, my first visit was with a friend on an internet deal which had apparently been advertised incorrectly. The staff didn't turn us away, but instead gave us a meal worth over £100 and only charged us £30! Such kindess is unheard of in London!
by kirstym, 23 Dec 2006Felt like a hotel lobby and drinks were very expensive. Staff lovely though.
by Anonymous, 12 Oct 2006I only went there for cocktails and they were absolutely wonderful! Food looked amazing - I'd go for the sushi. Will definitely return. Great decor too.
by Anonymous, 12 Sep 2006Fantastic food and a very sexy place indeed! I would definitely go back and eat there again.
by Anonymous, 29 Jun 2006I won't recommend anybody to go there for the food but the bar is quite fun. The food quality was good before but not that long right after their opening it turned to crap. Not worth it for the money and time.
by Ella's mother (2 reviews), 31 May 2006Great new hang-out. The crowd is beautiful, trendy, hot and mix of old and young, both locals and internationals. The music is a great change from the commercial garbage you hear in clubs. The cocktails are some of the best in London. Bar staff very friendly. The decor is different from what I have seen anywhere and I love how the decor reflects the idea of a cocoon and all!
I haven't tried the food since I go there after 11pm to enjoy the great drinks and the late night DJ.
Only problem, not enough bathrooms for when the restaurant turns into a late night lounge. The bar staff can decide you've have one to many drinks and decide not to serve you anymore, especially after 2am. If you plan to enjoy Cocoon after midnight be sure your guest listed, not everyone can come in.
I had an amazing time. The atmosphere was bubbly and the food was great! Will definitely go back.
by LeighA, 16 Feb 2006What an amazing place. Was a bit sceptical before I went, but the food is the best I've had in London (including Nobu). It's a restaurant that's actually got a great atmosphere as well.
by Paul (London) (2 reviews), 16 Dec 2005Ambiance is good but atmosphere dies down after 11pm. Food needs to be improved to compete with Zuma, Roka, Nobu and even Hakkasan.
by Gagan Jackson, 23 Sep 2005Fantastic night out... 6 of us booked for the 7.30 sitting on a Saturday night - and had great service - fantastic food and lots to drink - and it only came to about £70 p/h.
by mango, 19 Sep 2005Awful food, not a patch on Nobu, Hakkasan, Roka or Sumosan and seemingly more expensive - our bill would've been about 300 quid for 3. We had very pleasant waiters, pleasant, helpful bar man... until he served me the wrong cocktail and when I suggested he let me at least drink that whilst he made me the correct one, he was mean minded enough to keep it saying he'd sell it again. When I pointed out this was not correct he still hung on to it, then plonked it on to the counter with my new cocktail, rather infantile, rude and defeating the object I thought.
Our reservation was not recorded despite being booked through a prominent London hotel. We were parked in a corner table and when I pointed out to our waiter that it would be nice of the manager to apologise for the misunderstanding, an ignoramus of a waiter did a rude gesture behind my back which I saw as I turned around.
He said it was a joke... ha, ha. The best joke is that we laughed our heads off at them and their fawning after that, and I shan't be going back. These so called hip restaurants in London need to realise that there is always another place we can go, and failing that, I'd rather stay at home and hoover my fridge, pick fluff out my belly button or wallpaper the bird cage.
Great sushi and dim sum dishes, some of the best in London! Beautiful decor and beautiful people, well worth a visit. Oh, and to die for cocktails!
by Anonymous, 24 May 2005What a joke of a restaurant! Odd looking man walking around with FBI ear piece doing nothing, strange looking decor and food that is tepid and tasteless.
Cocktails saved the day but if you want to eat get ready to wait and be disapponted.
The crowd is hip, trendy and young. The wasabi prawns and soft shell crab are to die for, and the interior design is creative. But I must agree with the other reviews - the service was horrible. I've got no tolerance with waiters that are passive, clueless and have bad b.o.- and that's what we found at Cocoon. But the hot bartenders mix beautiful cocktails - and that gave us a happy ending!
