The Washington reviews
The mate and I stayed in the nearby hotel, but wandered out and about on our first day and strayed into The Washington. Thought it was brilliant and returned again the following day. It made our trip down from Scotland that much more enjoyable. Thanks to all the staff, and keep up the good work!

Decided to go there as had been told that it's a really great pub. Took over an hour to receive two orders and one of them was wrong. The staff didn't seem to care that they had given us the incorrect food or even apologise for it.

We love The Wash! Used to be a real old man's boozer a good while ago but is now best known for being a very reliable, friendly local for people living and working near by. Cool if somewhat faded interior; always plenty of seats though, with the occasional Primrose Hillbilly Celeb passing through or by. Almost worth not becoming too popular...!

Pub has new boss and missus. The place has improved 10-fold. Great atmosphere and food. The quiz night is back on Tuesday, plus the rollover pot. Had great fun.

Excellent venue to meet and greet. Has non-smoking area, food is good, and there's a good selection of wine as well as beers on tap.

In general, quite slow service. Food is average - always feels like it's been blasted in the microwave; soggy veggies and dry potatoes for the mediocre Sunday roast.

Inside OK, outside used to be OK until Tesco's opened and you sit staring at the delivery lorry loading and unloading. In the daytime it is continually there... puts you off your pint on a warm summer's day.

Great interior, visually - a great environment. Staff generally very friendly and helpful. Very dog friendly! Your usual comfy sofas, wooden floorboards, a piano sitting in the corner and a modern slant on English pub food.

Very cool place with a nice friendly atmosphere, had a few wines here and really enjoyed ourselves. The bar staff so friendly and helpful it was amazing. Will return to see some comedy in the club downstairs.
