Fino reviews
Excellent food, atmosphere and service with no pretention! Best tapas outside Mallorca, well executed Mallorcan style (on a par with Moro and Brindisa).
by vivgottlieb, 10 Mar 2008I went to Fino on the basis of many reviews on this site. What can I say? What a huge disappointment. It seems that Fino may be like many successful London restaurants, in that it earns a good reputation in the early days and then takes its foot off the gas, preferring to trade off former reputation than current culinary excellence. Every single course was either tasteless or overcooked. The crab croquettes tasted of nothing but black pepper, the chorizo tortilla was flavourless, and I've had better fries at McDonald's. Overpriced. Avoid.
by StuartEaling, 17 Feb 2008I went to Fino on Friday night to celebrate my birthday with my boyfriend. I LOVED it! The staff were lovely and friendly and there was a really good atmosphere. We started with a yummy champagne cocktail, then excellent tapas (the best croquetas I've ever had, and I even enjoyed the chorizo which I'm not normally a fan of) and some great red wine... all topped off with some sherry! Needless to say, we were quite razzled after that, which helped to soften the blow of the bill arriving. It's not cheap, but in my opinion it was worth every penny.
by Tumnus, 08 Aug 2007Had yet another great meal at Fino. The food was tasty and the ingredients amazing. The staff were helpful and smiley. Lovely.

by Wilson5 (3 reviews), 16 Dec 2006Four of us went on a Tuesday and it was packed out! Had great cocktails before we started (I had a Fino Apple Martini). The tapas were all excellent - my favourite was the foie gras with chilli jam. Would certainly go there again. Excellent service, great wines... a most enjoyable evening.

by Sarah M. "top london reviewer" (32 reviews), 13 Nov 2004Nice little bar for pre dinner cocktails. The best part of the eating experience is the accompanying chilled sherry which is a welcome change to wine and fits perfectly with the food. The tastiest tapas include the fried squid with lots of fresh lemon, and the chorizo sausage with beans.
by ac "top london reviewer" (38 reviews), 12 Apr 2004Definitely the best tapas in London, although the other restaurants listed here are pretty good too. The restaurant critics are increasingly asking whether Spanish cuisine is overtaking French in terms of innovation and leadership, but Fino isn't quite on the cutting edge. It is, however a great tapas restaurant with simple, delicious Spanish dishes served with a good range of appropriate sherries.
There's also a small and well-tended cocktail bar overlooking the dining area. Fino is entirely underground and the design suffers slightly from an overdose of blonde wood. But having lived in Barcelona for 3 years, I can honestly say that it's as good as tapas gets in London, albeit somewhat more expensive than it would be in Spain.
Have we missed a great spanish restaurant in London? Let us know.
