Elegant simplicity is juxtaposed against the flamboyance of classic American cocktails in this steakhouse and cocktail bar. Nick Strangeway, Hawksmoor's general manager and a leading London cocktail expert has perfected the Juleps, Martinis, Manhattans and Tikis, whilst the Ginger Pig butcher supplies the steakhouse. Po'boys - New Orleans-style sandwich rolls with fillings such as goose skirt (thick beef skirt) - are available at the bar.

Well, in complete contradiction to the other reviewer, I can't recommend this place highly enough. I keep coming back to enjoy what is quite probably the best steak in the city - and at a fantastically reasonable price. A tender, flavoursome 600g Rib Eye, cooked to perfection? Yes please!
This place is about two things - steak, and well-mixed cocktails. Both things it does very well indeed. The decor and ambience are laid back, the wine list is good and the portions are generous. I've never had service that fell short of excellent; whenever I can't make up my mind on an aperitif a few quick questions from the bar staff as to what my tastebuds fancy result in a drink that is exactly what I wanted - I just didn't know it.

I have never had food as salty as this. Not just the fries, but the steaks and greens too. It was just impossible to eat. When we complained, the surly waitress just shrugged and said 'I'll let the kitchen know" - no offer to change our dishes, no offer to take the food off the bill (mind you, that would have been ALL the food - there is one heavy handed chef in that kitchen!).
Other gripes: our steamed greens turned out to be fried spinach; the portions of fries were just plain mean; they brought us the wrong wine, and, after a farce of a meal, the wrong bill too. Frankly, this restaurant is not worth the schlep to Shoreditch... even if you live in Shoreditch.
