Notting Grill reviews
The service was OK but nothing special (which one might have expected considering the price level). The food, however, was outstanding. For mains my partner ordered fish (Barramundi) and I decided to try a steak with green pepper sauce. Both came perfectly cooked and were very tasty. The vegetable side orders and the desserts were also very good.
All in all, it's not the best place in town but I would definitely go back for a nice dinner.

Once we sat down, service was very slow. We ordered vegetables with our meal and had to remind staff twice that we hadn't received them. Food was poor quality - chips tasted re-fried and were returned.
Lastly, toilets (unisex) were dirty, with towels all over the floor both inside and outside cubicles.

All could be forgiven if the food was up to scratch. However, this is where the NG really falls short. I was not expecting fine cuisine, just basic food executed well. For £30 I expected my steak to be memorable; instead it was decidedly average at best, with an unusual 'aged' taste. There appeared to be no discernible difference between how my med/rare steak was cooked in comparison to my dining companions (rare and med/well) - all came rare with sinew throughout. Other lowlights included stale bread, very very bland gluggy mash, over-boiled veg and tasteless run-of-the-mill desserts.
For £240 for a table or 4 there are numerous better options where the basics are done right and then some.
