Manna reviews
Finally a place that is about good-tasting veggie food and not just about veggies wanting healthy food. The Thai falafel starter is brilliant and on Sunday lunch they do a veggie roast which is stunning. Don't over-fill on these as their desserts are also good. They also have an organic cola called Kick Kola - a fizzy bottled drink with apple and grape juice - which tastes great too. Service was good and on Sundays parking nearby is easy. I'd recommend it to both veggie and non-veggie alike. Bill for 2 of us came to about £80, but we did eat a lot!
by Punkaj "top london reviewer" (27 reviews), 28 Apr 2008Food very good, although pudding (organic fruit crumble) a touch stodgy. Mains a bit underflavoured, but reasonable portions. Possibly rather overpriced for what you get, however. Charged us extra to substitute icecream for cream on our desserts (without informing us), which was annoying. Hey-ho... stitching up the customer seems to be a London restaurant requirement these days.
Service perfunctory. Nothing wrong with it, but could have done with a bit of warmth. Brought a bottle of wine when we only asked for a glass, but otherwise courses were prompt and accurate.
Great location, convenient and pretty. Restaurant was fairly crowded but not at all packed, and the atmosphere was quite pleasant. All in all, a good experience - probably the best food and dining experience of the London veggie restaurants (E + 2 Veg comes close) - but just seemed to lack that little bit of sparkle to take it over the top into 'excellent' territory.
Had a great time here, the menu was so varied and delicious-sounding that we wanted to try everything. Staff were very helpful to our macrobiotic member of party. Place was rammed from quite early, so booking ahead is a good idea.
by marcot, 13 Sep 2007Have eaten here on and off since the 1970s but tonight was truly awful. Either the chef read the bland food comment below or, more likely, he/she doesn't even taste their offerings but is so into chili that the food was inedible.
I eat regularly in vegetarian restaurants, but
everything except pasta with mushrooms was so heavy-handedly seasoned and dressed with chili that mouths burned, resulting in an embarrassing meal for ourselves and our guests. And by the way our guests were two gentlemen from southern India, so spicy food is not usually problematic.
New chef is needed urgently. Menu was not very inspired and the evening's special had sold out before 8pm.
Tried this as an utter carnivore with my vegetarian girlfriend and sorry to say that both she and I found it pretty bland food. In my experience (and I have been to several veggie restaurants), vegetarians are better off opting for the vegetarian options in restaurants catering for all types of diners.

by Anonymous, 02 Dec 2005Everything wonderful - heavenly food, exquisite wine (recommended by Carolynne) and friendly and helpful staff. Definitely our favourite veggie restaurant (we don't even want to eat anywhere else!)
by Annie M, 25 Jul 2005Manna has a nice, relaxed cafe feel to it, but the food is way beyond 'standard veggie cafe'. It's an eclectic menu, including the restaurant's take on Indian, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes, and very few of them miss their mark. Highly recommended.
