Brady's (Fish and Chips Shop)
29 August 2006
Delish. Mr Brady looks after you well.
Long Bar at Sanderson (Bar)
29 August 2006
Yes it's pretentious, but if you get a seat at the bar you feel sexy. Sad but true!
American Bar (Bar)
29 August 2006
Dire decor, populated by Saga holidaymakers. Such a shame.
Claridge's Bar (Bar)

The best nibbles in town!
Milk & Honey (Bar / Members' Club)

I'm with principessa, wherever she is. Last time I went it was so dark I might have been sitting next to her. Go if you're blind, or blind drunk.
The Guinea Grill (Pub)
29 August 2006
Legendary steak sarnies and even better steak and kidney pies. Oodles of atmosphere but very small, so you always eat standing up (my mum says it's not good for you).
Ping Pong (Restaurant)

Stick to Royal China on Baker Street if you want real dim sum. All smoke and mirrors if you ask me.
Mr Kong's (Restaurant)
29 August 2006
Good reliable food but tired decor. Gents' toilet downstairs is not for the faint-hearted.
Borough Market (Food Market)
29 August 2006
Good fun if you like food but overcrowded and will cost you a small fortune unless you know your onions, literally. It's easy to get dragged in, so make sure you've had a Full English before you go. Look out for Farmer Sharp's lamb and mutton, The Ginger Pig for pork and bacon, Mrs King's pork pies, Echire butter, Comte cheese, Neal's Yard Dairy. Go Friday if you can.
Sea Cow (Fish and Chips Shop / Fishmongers)
29 August 2006
Fresh, fresh fish and very useful as a fishmonger. Chips vary from average to excellent. You can actually phone through your order (except Fridays and Saturdays) if you want to avoid waiting. Decent wines if you eat in. Convivial bench seating. 'Mushy' peas are not actually mushy, just pureed - you might like them sunshine, but I'm a Northerner!
Ginger Pig (Butcher)

If you do only one thing in London, eat one of their sausage rolls. Ay carumba! Oh, and fantastic Old Spot bacon too.
The Lord Palmerston (Gastro Pub)
29 August 2006
Good, reliable food and refreshingly unpretentious for a gastropub. Franklins, a few doors along Lordship Lane, is more interesting though.
East Dulwich Deli (Delicatessen)
29 August 2006
Great shop and produce, just a tad expensive. Service varies. Perhaps best to avoid at peak times.
