The Oak (Gastro Pub)

Nice pub, pretty average fare. The staff are friendly though and there is a nice vibe. The garden is fun in the warmer months and they have been known to run a BBQ at weekends from there as well. Upstairs restaurant was a bit dead and empty. Their Sunday 'Roast and a DJ' attracts a big crowd who pour onto the pavement outside.
The Cow (Pub / Gastro Pub)

The bar downstairs is always smoky, crowded and tended by rude offhand barstaff, as has been mentioned ad nauseam in other reviews. The upstairs dining rooms, however, are an oasis. A perfect little dining room serving delicious simple dishes. I hate the bar, but I love the dining rooms. The upstairs retains the charm the downstairs had when Tom Conran first opened and I drank downstairs all the time.
Bill Amberg (Leather Goods Shop)

Purchased two gifts for friends from this shop last year. The poor quality leather didn't wear well and the stitching on the bag came apart after only three months of light use. Eye-watering prices too. Overrated.

A local favourite. Superb beef on the bone, well aged and a lovely dark burgundy colour (a good sign of proper aging) unlike the vivid scarlet of supermarkets' pre-packed stuff. Cheaper than famous neighbour Lidgates.
