China Tang (Restaurant)
03 January 2006
The bar is wonderful for a pre-dinner drink - cocktails were delicious and the staff were very welcoming. Unfortunately it all went a bit down hill after that. The restaurant looks like your average Chinese restaurant, the menu selection is that of an average Chinese restaurant and when the food comes you wish you'd actually been to an average Chinese restaurant!
My husband took me there for lunch just before Christmas as a special treat. We ordered a large selection of dim sum. A couple of the dishes were good - the ribs in particular were great. But the lobster dumplings (at £22) were totally bland, and the rest of the food was nothing to shout about.
I'd go back to the bar for cocktails, but then I'd go upstairs to the Grill to eat - that's supposed to be great.

Absolutely wonderful cocktails served by the friendliest and most attentive staff. Such a pleasant surprise after visiting so many places where the staff can't manage a smile.
The food which was brought to the tables around us looked so good I decided to take my Mum and sister for lunch in the restaurant above (Roka) the following day - that was great too.
Can't recommend it enough, might be worth booking a table though if you want to visit, as I think we were quite lucky to get one.
