Black's (Members' Club)
24 September 2008

Blacks is great. Guiseppe is a lovely man. The house is beautiful. HOWEVER: kitchen needs to be told that the food is terrible. I have been regular visitor there for nearly 6 years and the members have changed considerably. I am also older but anyway. The food was never great but now it is inedible. I have had upset stomach twice after eating there, including my last time about 1 month ago. Will never eat there again! Also now that Siobhan has left, the atmosphere is not the same.

Alastair Little (Restaurant)

All I can say is well done! Went for dinner there to cheer up an old friend who was having a bad time. Everything was excellent. I have no complaints. I will be going back soon. Food 100% Service 100% Wine 100%. Excellent.

Beauberry House Beauberry House (Restaurant)

The building is beautiful. The interior is lovely. The food is OK but not for the price. The wine is terribly expensive and not so good. Have been 4 times, 2 visits for anniversaries but it's not really worth it.

Beach Blanket Babylon Beach Blanket Babylon (Bar / Restaurant)
24 September 2008

OK, this place was great fun 10 years ago, but now: Quelle Horreur! Went back recently and DISASTER. Bizarre service, the food is now not good, too many Heat magazine stars as well, if the photographers outside didn't have the wrong information. If there was a no star rating, this place would have nothing.

Oxo Tower Oxo Tower (Restaurant)

OK, restaurant itself lovely. Staff were bad, food not good and very expensive. I believed the reputation of the Oxo Tower but the menu was not impressive. To make me go back they will have to make serious changes. Not good.

Le Palais du Jardin (Restaurant)
24 September 2008

Sorry, but this place is very past its sell by date. I used to go often when I worked in Covent Garden. But it's now very expensive, the waiting staff were unfriendly and the food not worth the money. The restaurant has zero atmosphere. Sadly, it's maybe a victim of its own success. Many people from outside London come to eat there and I am not sure it is so good an experience for them. The only positive is the Sancerre Rose, but you can get a bottle at the bar, drink it with your friends and go somewhere else to eat.

Bleeding Heart Bleeding Heart (Restaurant / Restaurant)
24 September 2008

This restaurant is wonderful. I am French and we are fussy for good French cuisine abroad. The price is expensive but the wines are good and the food is very acceptable. I live in South London and would also recommend Le Chardon, if you can't afford Bleeding Heart. It's great, good wine, good food and the staff are ALL lovely. Perhaps they should consider opening one near to BH as it would give it good competition.

Saco Saco (Hair Salon)
24 September 2008

Until recently I went to a well known brand name, also in Covent Garden. My hairdresser left and a friend recommended SACO. I went to Mark who was extremely professional. As a guy, I prefer to have another guy cut my hair and I have to say he has given me one of the 5 best cuts I've had in my life. He was very friendly, told me a lot about his past life in hairdressing, as well as on the music scene in the 80s in Manchester, not the usual salon conversation. What a lovely guy! The salon itself is very stylish, a shame that it wasn't busier. All the staff were great and polite. I am booked in again with Mark next month and hope to make it my regular place. His price was reasonable too, pretty much what I was paying before. Very happy with my change.
