Charlotte Street (Bar)
27 April 2008
The frontage of the Charlotte Street Hotel beautifies the street it is on. The room in which the bar and restaurant are located is gorgeous and airy. However, the wait staff entirely negate all of the positives. They are dismissive, greet you poorly (if at all) and basically make you feel like you're an imposition in their own private space. Bar staff are quite helpful and pleasant and the food is nice. I really want to patronise this beautiful place, but after each visit I wonder why I keep trying.

An unbelievable steak and excellent surroundings. A must try!
Cafe Mozart (Cafe)

Great food and the hot drinks are delicious. I love their apple cider in the winter. Also, the staff are nice and friendly and don't bother you if you want to linger over a cup of coffee for more than a few minutes!
Aura (Bar)

From the few clues I could gather, it's quite a neatly-lit club with a nice little layout. This was lost on me almost entirely because there's about 5 people jammed elbow to elbow per square metre. It's a shameless money grabber for people who have dressed up way too well, only to sweat their asses off. Also, It felt like I was always in the way of the staff.
Third Space (Gym)

A great gym with excellent facilities. Stunning architectural features on every level and lots of natural lighting makes this place a great 'home away from home'. There is a wide range of equipment and a great boxing area with lots of pros and skilled trainers that seem pretty happy to help.
The floatation tank is in a very strange place (will never use it that publicly). Pool is beautiful but a little short and a tad too warm.
Nevertheless, I think it's a great gym in a great location and definitely unrivaled in London.
