Fantastic laid back Clerkenwell gastropub. Excellent food and the staff are v friendly and welcoming. The best gastro pub in Clerkenwell by miles.
The Anchor & Hope (Gastro Pub)

Tottally and utterly overrated. The food is nothing special or original. It's quite a nice pub but is a pastiche of the Eagle which has completely had its day now. Will everyone please stop going on about how the Eagle is the World's first and most amazing gastro pub! So what anyway? There have been many far better operations since!

Very impressed with the refurb of this place. Close attention to detail and stylish and I think is is superb that they have kept the original pub sign hanging outside. I love the ceiling, the huge door to the toilets, the tall bar and the slate used for the blackboard. The food is of a good standard and the drinks offering ok although it could be much better. Not too sure how friendly the staff are, maybe I havn't been enough. The one serious criticism I have are of the benches outside. They have to be the worst pub benches I've ever seen and do not fit in at all with the stylish design of the rest of this cool and classic gastro pub. Please swap them asap!

The food in the first floor Dining Room is divine, the service impeccable and the setting very cool (they have a mirrorred ceiling!). If you are looking for a superb meal at reasonable prices then book here.
