Love this place. Am a local. Great alternative to the bland style bars of Shoreditch.

Rubbish. Markets itself as a style bar without having any. The weekend clientele are dreadful beings who for the most seem to be out-of-towners getting their tiny bit of cool in Shoreditch. No residents of Shoreditch/Clerkenwell would go here unless forced; far more hip places to go. Overpriced and well, over.

Maybe this place has improved dramatically since the last review? Spurred on by AA Gill's recent excellent review I went yesterday with a group of six others and the food was absolutely fantastic. We were spoilt for choice, but managed to cover most bases on the starters (fois gras, terrine, steak tartare, oysters, scallops) with excellent mains to follow. It's an amazing menu and given it's length I was impressed that the quality of the food was consistently excellent, with reasonably good service too.
Beautiful venue - reckon this place is an absolute winner for a long, lazy weekend lunch in a fine setting.

Tried this place last night. Slightly daunting menu with a multitude of options, but you will be rewarded with a very unusual and high quality culinary experience. Had the calamari for starter and sirloin for main. Both were excellent. Strange to find such high quality in a dump of a location. Recommended.

Service impeccable, although staff are obviously, ahem... on something.
Food very good, though the experience was lessened by having an OK DJ playing far too loud music through the meal (why do places do this??)
General crowd that pitched up later was young, boisterous, but a lot less trendy than they think. (They generally can't dance either.)
Typical place to be seen in, if you're that type of person.
