10 July 2012

I went to book an appointment after reading fab reviews on urban path. I wanted a reliable hairdresser after a previous disastrous experience. The staff are very friendly: when I booked the appointment they offered me a consultation for cut and colour; I also got a hot chocolate whilst waiting for the colourist to do the consultation! This salon has won plenty of awards and I can see why. They are the only salon I have ever seen that stocks both Kerastase and Bumble & Bumble products.

After the consultation I went for the haircut with Katie and colour with Kerrie (she works for fashion shows in London and Milan). The service was amazing and the hairdressers super competent. I also pop in now and then for a trim of my fringe and I am always impressed with the excellent service. My hairdresser of choice.

Mad Lillies Mad Lillies (Hair Salon)

I went to this hairdresser as I have just moved into the area and I did not have time to go to my usual hairdresser in Shoreditch. I made the mistake of choosing the junior stylist/ colourist. The colour was not up to scratch and I had to ask for it to be retouched (the colourist did not mention she made a mistake). I have a fringe and it was cut too short, despite having shown a picture to the stylist.

Overall, not a positive experience. The salon is very busy but I would suggest choosing a more experienced stylist/colourist. Not worth £90 at all. I would go back to my usual next time.

On the positive side, the service is OK (except for the female receptionist who is very abrupt and looks bored all the time) and the blow dry was excellent.

Radio Radio (Hair Salon)

Excellent salon! I had my hair cut and coloured by Rodrigo and it is pure perfection. Supreme attention to detail, great tailored advice and great customer service. This is THE top salon in London. My search for the perfect hairdresser is over. Radio London rocks! Great location and environment. They are the Bumble & Bumble flaship salon in the UK. Complimentary green tea and coffee (unlike other salons where they charge you for drinks). The salon is very airy, bright and clean. The receptionist is very friendly and helpful. Would definitely go back.

Very nice colour and friendly atmosphere. The blow dry was amazing, it lasted for days. However, the cut was not that great - the fringe was not straight and when I got home I had to cut the longer bits myself. For £136.00 I expect pure perfection. Would not go back.

They are very nice and friendly, but the cut is quite average. Great colour (this is what Lisa Shepherd is known for), but the blow dry lasted literally 2 hours: done in a hurry whilst the stylist was giving lessons to a trainee. Not very impressed with the service and would not go back.

Fantastic place - the food is amazing, the best Italian restaurant in London. The sommelier will help you match wine with the food and the staff in general are very attentive and professional. Super busy place, so if you are going for dinner I suggest you book at least 2 weeks ahead. Giorgio Locatelli e' mitico!

Home House (Members' Club)

I have been a member of Home House for a year and, whilst the place is okay, the membership is ridiculously overpriced (£1,840 joining fee + £1,840 per annum). I have not renewed it as it is not worth the money! I have used the HH mainly for business meetings and my guests were impressed with the building (but not with the service - the quality has deteriorated over the past few months). It also has a gym and a spa.

Now that my membership has expired, I will look somewhere else. Note that the HH applies differentiated fees: if you joined years ago you may still be paying £70 per month, but if you join now they will charge you a fortune. Check the Soho House (£800 per annum for the global memmbership and much cooler crowd!)

I really like the salon, it's high quality and very friendly. I get my hair cut by Tara and she is very good, very attentive and listens to clients. My hair is long, with no layers and a heavy fringe (which requires regular trimmings that you can get for free in between cuts). Tara also gives great tips on how to maintain my hair. I am going to try the colour as well with Takashi next time I go to the salon.
