Fordham Soho Fordham Soho (Hair Salon)
07 September 2006

Great salon. I've had four different stylists and been happy or delighted with each. They've never kept me waiting, always offer a glass of wine or a beer and are entertaining to talk to, or happy to leave you to read a magazine.

Maze Maze (Restaurant)

Remarkable food and a super-slick operation all round. There are a few novelty dishes which the critics always mention (peanut butter and jam sarnies, etc), but it's serious and delicious food which stands the test of several visits - I'm never disappointed.

More personality and more friendly than the big coffee shop chains and better coffee too! Close to the tube so handy for a snack and drink on the way to work for Clapham commuters. I find the main road a bit busy to sit outside but you can usually get a seat inside.

The best thing to hit Clapham in some time! The staff wear quirky uniforms and serve the most delicious cakes and a selection of teas to enjoy with them. There's not much seating space and it gets busy but it's definitely worth checking out. It's next to my favourite butcher too (Moen's).

Ice Bar Ice Bar (Bar)

Great fun and can't be beat for novelty value but I doubt I will be returning to the IceBar again and again.

It's £12 to get in and you book your 45 minute time slot in advance. 45 minutes should be enough for anybody - after 30 I was starting to feel too cold, despite the silver coats and gloves they lend you.

The drinks list is Absolut or nothing, but it's fun to drink out of the square ice glasses they serve them in. You can stand inside the big Absolut bottle and there are ice sculptures to look at, but after that I was ready to return to the outside world.

The bar on the way in (normal temperature!) seems pleasant and I think there's a restaurant downstairs too.

Found several unique pieces here and the staff are really friendly, helpful and well-informed. As the review below says, there are too many lovely things here!

What a charming shop. Prices were higher than you would find in a supermarket but the range and quality are much better. They certainly know there stuff, and take pride in what they do.

I wasn't sure quite what to expect, situated as it is beneath the Radisson Edwardian (I'm suspicious of chain hotels) and there was a bit of confusion about our booking. However, when we got there I'm pleased to say that the therapist was great and tailored the treatment to my skin type after asking all the right questions. It's beautifully designed too.
