Chez Kristof (Restaurant)

I've been here quite a few times for lunch, and dinner (though not on the same day, obviously) and I have never had a bad meal. At lunchtime it's lively and in the evening it's romantic. It's not cheap but if you want cheap, go somewhere cheap! A good wine list too. Friendly but discreet service, a tiny bit slow when they're busy but you could always take advantage of the extra time to chat and enjoy yourself. I love this place.
Roberson (Wine Merchant)

The first time I went, I said what I wanted - a wine for 'decent', to take to a party. He recommended something delicious. The second time I went back he remembered me and asked how it was. The way a good wine merchant should be. Never had a duff bottle from here. And the house champagne is lovely, at just £16 or so.
The Gate (Restaurant)

The Gate never disappoints - friendly service, delicious food, beautiful setting, not expensive. If you're going to complain about not having meat, the clue is in the description: 'vegetarian restaurant'.

A fabulous location and OK food. We went there on a Monday lunchtime - not exactly rush hour - and the service was poor. Worst bit though, was the loos. No paper, no light, no plughole, no soap, hand drier not working. Think about that. How are people (including staff) washing their hands?!
