Charbonnel et Walker (Chocolate Shop)
08 July 2008
A wonderful visit to Charbonnel et Walker after a gap of nearly 6 years, following a visit to their neighbour Ormonde Jayne! The violet cremes are even better and more delicious than I remembered them. You can really picture this shop one century ago on the corner of Old Bond Street and also see why it has lasted that long. Perfect service and staff and the most luxurious, beautiful keepsake boxes.
Ormonde Jayne (Perfume Shop)
08 July 2008
I have just discovered Ormonde Jayne for myself after having several friends order me there. My stubborn side held out as I already have stockpiles of Chanel and other once secret supplies from Roja Dove. But now I could easily bin them all! What an unbelievable place. The owner, Linda Pilkington, was there (and Claudia Schiffer!) and took time to explain all her ingredients in the signature scent, Tolu, which I have fallen in love with. If perfume could be likened to the loves of one's life, Tolu is my lifelong soulmate to love and hold forsaking all others... I went slightly crazy and bought the Pure Parfum in a rather clever box and the Bathing Oil. One week later I am still pathetically addicted, putting on one more splash before bedtime even! The comments are still coming - from strangers in supermarkets as well as from my husband, who clearly approves!
